Hi Parents,

Don't worry about Science assessment books being left-over...they won't be...bcos at every CA/SA, the kids will be tested. At P5, kids are tested from P3. I have Helen Lee (EPH), Longman Weekly Science and Learning Science (SAP)...all these are good. Thanks for the assurance; at least know that I am not being kiasu especially just packed the cabinet to put aside all the assessment books for the time being :dancing: :boogie:

For the Science process skills, the questions are quite challenging :roll: ...I did not get DD1 to do it as I know she will end up,\"Mummy, very difficult; I don't want to do; can don't do...etc..etc...\" So what I did (just my own case), I attempt the questions myself and cross-checked with the answers sheet. Oh gosh, at times I thought I am right but then the \"detailed\" answers made me re-read again & again ...Frankly speaking, I think I have never been so hardworking in all my life until the past 5 months going through Science Revision with DD1. :scared: :nailbite:

Nevertheless, I am thankful for all parents here who come forward to share and advise; really learn a lot! :celebrate: :hugs:

Hey Champion,

You have really been very pro-active coaching your daughter…I was not anywhere near you when my son was in P2. Totally unaware of Science and the in-depth of questions tested during CA/SA at all. It was only in P4, that I got more kancheong where assessment is concerned. Now, I’m not just kancheong but kiasu bcos of the difficulty.
SA1 results should be out this week.

I want to thank you and other parents here who have given a lot of advices and opinions regarding Science! :celebrate: :grphug: If I have not been logging into this forum regularly, I wouldn't have learnt & know so much about Science :nailbite: :scared: .......I know that I am not good in Science since school times so I hope to grasp more knowledge so I can help DD1 and later on with DD2 and more years later, with DS. :nailbite:

I know for Science - is getting tougher and tougher :frustrated: ...I read through briefly the balance topics to be covered for till end of P3 and I know later on I will :stupid: :slapshead: when comes to the topic of \"MAGNET\"! :imdrowning: :?:

I was hopeless in Math & Science during my school days :gloomy: ...now I am making up by studying harder to coach my son. That Ultimate Science seems to be for me to read...son claims it is too difficult for him...basically he is lazy to read.

Speaking of MAGNETS, I surrender. Left that topic to hubby. Same goes for ELECTRICITY next term. I just don't have the interest :slapshead:

Yea, agrees...topics getting tougher and still back to square - Science has the least no. of hours allocated in the whole week of school hours! :frustrated: ...DD1 told me that the 2 weeks nearer the SA1, the Science teacher has to request for other subject teachers (mutual agreement) to let her take over their periods to do the Science revisions. Appreciate the effort & co-operation among the teachers but that not gonna solve the problems! :slapshead: :stupid:

We are given the answer key to do the marking ourselves as the teacher had run out of time to go through with the class on the 2 sets of SA1 exam paper given before the exam.

I can't allocate much time for Science revision for CA/SA too...majority is on Eng & Math. Chinese & Science just 1 hour a week...something like die-die must remember the chapter he has done in Helen Lee.
Must ask mummies with children in P6 how they schedule revision.

Can't remember where we bought it! You may want to try Popular, shop in the Science Center or any shop selling Science related materials.

You may also consider get a torch light for your child to experiment how the shadow is formed and they will grasp the concept better on the ‘size of the object” various to the distance among the screen, torch light and the respective object etc
