so it means to say that no more streaming end of P1...hmm...

This is probably true (no streaming end of P1)... for of late we've been hearing
that the same teachers follow up with the same P1 class in P2 the following year.
Some schools do the official testing at the end of P1 meaning they sit for the year
end exams (SA2) while some others may only have this at the end of P2.

although no streaming at end of P1, not sure if the school will stream students into different chinese language classes based on class tests. if i remember correctly, they were streamed based on 1st few tests in P1. better to check with the respective teachers if you are interested to find out because i think for chinese, first 2 classes (or more?) covers all topics in the 1 chapter with additional spelling words (for p3, not sure if p1/p2 different anot. can't remember. sorry) while other classes only do 2 (or 1?) topics in the 1 chapter).

P3 is a big jump. my ds1 now learning to complete as much homework in between lessons in school. when school just started last sem, he did his homework until 9pm daily on weekdays!

Dear Jedamum,

Funny, my son although in P4, never had so much homework. This year, some days he did work though the afternoon but not into the night.

maybe depends on the teacher? sometimes when i asked my ds1 what they did in class, he said filing and scolding :laugh: . maybe in p4 the kids will be more matured and more time can be better utilised in class to complete classwork and lesser to bring home.

I got a massive shock with the work load at P4!
Not inclusive of other extras like supplementary, CCA, enrichment...
Really... 9pm is nothing. In fact, very good. :salute:
DD1 also does some homework in school when she has time.
But still the time stretches.. so i had to say something. Now not too
bad already.. :idea: Perhaps also diff sch diff work load.. :siao: But
generally most of my friends say their children have a lot of home
work as well. Plus must also have time to study / revise right?
Doing lotsa homework is not studying in my opinion at least..

yeah jedamum you are right! they've stream Chinese language after 1st term school holiday. My gal started to go to diff class for mother tongue lessons. For Eng, Maths arts still remain at the same class.

not sure if there will be any change in system, but end of P2 results, MT will be in separate class (regroup according to results) and then Eng&Math will be grouped in another class. but with the abolishment of exams for P2, not sure how the school is going to go about doing it.

Hi hi…i’m a ex student of Lianhua…currently stayi in Jurong area, to avoid all those balloting of Pri…thinki to just put my eldest in Lianhua…any advise?
