revision at home. Sian kanna nag by parents... sian kanna the mouthfuls of
reminders to be more careful or not to be careless (whichever way it's being
put across)... sian that they don't even know (at this juncture) why the hell they
are even doing all this work. :rant: So yesss.. they very sianz. Da poor dears.. :hugs:

Somehow, Rulang papers are of higher standard, especially Maths. So, yes, I'm waiting too, for results time.

Nope, no potential titles given. CL teacher gave them a topic for practice but has said that that is for practice. School gave some guidelines and rubrics but no titles.. Same goes for EL.. so at home we just tikam-tikam and try to spot question lor... but you know la can be anything right... haiz... :idea:

But teachers tells us not to worry they will be lenient... this is the first year they are doing this .. so DD's batch become guinae pigs.. :gloomy:

:hi5: Yup, best effort counts!! Anyway, once exams over, no use in worrying.. we will go all out to chill out first... :boogie:

After CA1, I have learnt to have no expectations. :roll: I will use the same way to gauge especially for Maths.. minus all the 'impossible' questions how did she do. If she still can cope and not struggling to float, then me :dancing: All attempts and correct marks to handle the impossible is bonus. :imcool:

But whatever the case, I will absord the stress and then plan how to stagger the exposure gradually like last sem... it is a long uphill battle... half year down 5 and half more to go...

I felt that my ranting on the exams might be a little unjust to Rulang.. so for the benefit of the many lurkers/parents here who are considering Rulang for your child, here I add a different perspective to life in Rulang outside exams.

My P1 DD loves her school and her FT to bits. She also likes her friends and teachers very much. It is also wonderful that there are very caring teachers and an incredible FT who takes the time to feedback parents every week on homework, expectations, activities. Homework is not overwhelming and on most days, it is completed in school. There is homework on weekends but not excessive. Yes, there is weekly spelling and tingxie but it is postponed on exam weeks. Hack, even the Operations Manager, the security guards, the canteen vendors and dentists are very friendly.

I like all the PAL programs, walkatons, the activities, robotics, e-learning etc etc.. The PALS programs are conducted on Friday mornings and it really allows the kids to experience performing arts etc. The theme is changed every term. Come next week, parents will get a chance to see the kids perform for VOR. I'm so looking forward to it as my DD's FT has made the kids promise to keep the performance item a secret.

Oh and my DD is so impressed with her School Skipping Team. They can actually skip with their butt on the floor. Super Impressive!!

Like I say, my only bugbear is the standard of the exams. But I suppose this may be happening islandwide.. I don't know.. I was told that it aims to prepare the kids in advance so that they will be well prepared when it is D-day but hey, what do I know... except that if we over-kill we might lose the kid's interest forever.. :rant:

so yes, it is still a great school... so long as my child remains motivated..

Which school is not pressing hard so that the students can excel in their studies?
In fact, dd’s teacher told her class stopped all the tuition as her homework was sufficient! Quite a relief for us as we can save on tuition fees.

Yes, enjoy your VOR. The school makes use of this period (after SA1 and before sch hol starts) to prepare some programmes for everybody including the parents.

My dd looks forward to bowling - only for p6 kids!

I agree Rulang is a great school. I feel so blessed that my DS is there, and on the whole, i find that they have a good mix of curriculum. When my DS2 enters P1 in 2013, it will be under holistic assessment already, like what RRmummy daughter is going through in P1 now.
I look forward to the annual VOR ! and collecting report book la.
