Many thanks for your advice. I understand from my friend that St. Nicholas Girls accept kids with special talent such as gymnastics, the coach may put in recommendation to the school. Those kids with special talent thus has good opportunity to enrol in the school. Wonder if Chong Fu allows for such exceptions?

I have registered my girl in Chongfu in Phase 2A2 (old boy/old girl priority) and gotten a place. However, am still very concern about the daily travelling time for the rest of the six years since we are staying in Seletar area which is 20km away from the school. Not sure if my girl could manage it


We are within 1-2km to good school like Rosyth, Xinmin and Hougang pri but all these school are balloting in Phase 2C 1km in the past. We have called the schools earlier on and the advice was 'no chance'. Hence, we made a decision to secure a place in Chongfu despite of the long distance from home.

There is another new school, Fernville Pri, which is within 1km, we didn't want to register there due to very little information of the school.

If you were in our shoes, will you make the same decision? What other options or advices would you give?

i reg my gal in Chong Fu under 2B as well but think sure no chance liao as we are more than 2km!!!!

i know northland should consider 2nd best in Yishun but my chances will be slim becoz is under 2C 1-2km

what u all think will be the 3rd best primary school in Yishun?

i was thinking to go for Jiemin as is within 1km

anyone is facing the same situation as me???

Did you manage to get into Chong Fu after the ballot? Btw, you may refer to chief's comments on Jiemin earlier in this phase. He commented that it is an above average school as compared to other neighbourhood school.... I was an ex-student there, was contempleting to register there earlier until I realised my home is within 2km from Chong Fu.

To add on, Jiemin is the 3rd school, which requires balloting in phase 2C for the past 2 years. Looking at the vacanices left, I guess it will be the same this year.

My girl applying for pri 1 this week too, now still strategising which school to apply and likely to apply only on Thursday when looking at the latest applicants no. Anyone know whether if I call the school up to ask for the no, they would entertain me or expect me to go to the school to look at the notice board? I am staying at Yishun, previously thought could try Aitong(SAP sch) under the clan(SHHK), phase 2b but wasn't given the recommendation letter by the clan despite me appealing to them. Now I am still eyeing on SHHK's school, i.e. Chong Fu but I am under the category of 1-2km. I have alt plan to enrol in the following school in order of priority, depending on their applicant status by Thursday morning. They are:

1) Anderson Pri Sch > 2km
2) JieMin Pri Sch - < 1km
3) Northland Pri Sch 1-2 km

I think I am taking a risk and Thursday will be a very busy day for me. If all the above failed, will need to go to phase 2c supp, think I would consider letting my girl to go to Yishun Pri sch or Ahmad Ibrahim Pri sch. Anyone out there, pls give me your comment on this two schools ?

I hope I make the right plan and no heart attack this few days, chew... I don't recall my mum need to go thru all this headache when I was pri one.

Northland sure no chance based on past results. Balloting within 1 km. Jiemin also require balloting at phase 2C

Prefer Anderson and Yishun primary...... Peixin merge with Yishun from year 2009 onwards. Peixin's standard not bad, i heard, at least during my years, on par with Jiemin.....nearer to your house too!

Thanks for your advise to me , ok with Anderson as many of my girl's K2 classmate are going there, I am now monitoring its appl rate as it is currently below the phase 2c vacancy rate, may try if no balloting is required. For Yishun (or Peixin), had called up the 2 offices to check on the coming changes to the school operation, only manage to know that p1&p2 going to be in afternoon session and the principal will remained as Yishun pri principal, i.e Mr Chan, the rest of the details are yet to be finalise, seemed like the staff themselves are also wondering what is their fate after the merge. Fear that my girl will be a guinea pig for the new merge school, hence feel like trying for Jiemin and get the thrill in balloting (if there is need for those staying within 1km). Sigh....... really not sure, I hope \"my\" choice will not impact my girl's future, I regret not to be more Kiasu and persistance with my husband to be kiasu too.

Conclusion: tomorrow is the DAY, wish me luck.

i just went to chongfu to register. guess chance to go into 2C supp is high. so now headache over next choice.

any comments on ahmad ibrahim primary to share? or maybe xishan?
actually wanted to choose peixin but because of the merger of the 2 schools, me also scare…so likely not choosing it…

I've registered my girl for Chongfu yesterday and gotten to know that require balloting today. I already expected it. Now I depend on my luck to gain a seat. If cannot get a place in Chongfu, my headache will come....

My 2nd preference is Anderson but seat almost taken up...furthermore, <2Km from my place.

If there's no other good choice, perhaps will consider Ahmad Ibrahim. The winning point from this school is > it's single session and have Character Development award.

Let's wait for the result on 7 August 2008..

I do not have a good impression of Xishan since my times (one of a notorious classmate was transferred from there to my class). Its a personal perspective, really.

How about Wellington (recommended by my friend) and Sembawang Pri (chief have a good impression at least, for the last 2 years)? Quite a bit of distance though but sure no balloting for phase 2C. Have checked.
