I stay between West Grove pri sch and Jurong West pri sch. Both school are very popular at my side. I choose West Grove as my house is nearer to it. I know some of my dd classmates parents also aiming for the school…Hope my dd can get in!

I have short-listed Tara(daily) & zoophonics (once or twice per week). The reviews for zoophonics seem not bad. And there is one at the stadium called The Enrichment Classroom but not sure good or not? ( not much review)
Do you have any other option to share:) -

A friend also recommended The Enrichment Classroom to me. But Tara still holds more allure cos it's at JP, a lot of things I can do there when dd is in class.Ch

Are you a SAHM? sorry if you mentioned b4 and i'm asking again!
The other place I checked out is MMI, both JW ext and JW. May also consider the JW one, for the 2x weekly parent-accompanied session. Want to learn more about Montessori method, so sitting in means I get to see what's being taught.
Sorry if I won't be replying any other posts for the next month or so. It's the sch hols, will be really busy with all the kids home 24/7. But after they start school in July, will have pockets of free time again, will check back then!

My DD seems quite happy to go to school. However she is still having separation anxiety. She will cry and cry if me or my dad/mum leaves her side. There is another boy of the same age and he entered the school the same day as my girl. The boy is able to adapt very quickly to the environment and is not sticky to his maid who brings him to school daily.
hi peonies,
is your dd happy going there everyday?
is there separation anxiety?
when you say free play, do you mean all the kids can choose to play with anything they want the entire 2hr, or is it just for 15to 30min?
also, when they are playing, like with playdough or something, is everyone gathered together with the teachers playing with the playdough too?
have they used the portrait painting? cos that's what i really like. i am hoping they can paint everyday, cos it's hard for me to do that at home.
The kids can choose to play whatever they want in the whole two hours. Sometimes the teachers will try to engage the kids by gathering them to sit down for story-telling, painting on the easels, dance, coloring, play musical instruments, etc. But usually the kids will get distracted and run away to play with another toy after a few minutes. I must say the teachers are very patient.
The teachers tend to play together with the kids. For example if my DD is playing with the kitchen set, one of the teachers will play next to her and show her how to cut the toy vegetables or pretend to eat what she cooks. Sometimes the kids do not gather together to play. My DD for example do not like to mingle with the boys and prefers to play by herself.
If you want your child to do painting daily, you can definitely tell the teacher that. They do not have any restrictions to what the kids want to play or try. Today, two of the kids went over to the glass easels and pointed to the paints. Immediately the teacher gathered everyone to the easels, helped them to put on the aprons, gave them paints and brushes and encourage them to start painting. -

Thanks for your info!
I don't really like most of the time for free play! But I will still bring my DD2 go for the trial class when she is ready...It might be interesting for her?:) -
Hi Dec,
I know what you mean, I’m not very happy with too much free play as well. However I have seen for myself how the kids are, and I can understand how difficult it is to enforce a structure programme upon these young kids without the parents around. Maybe I have not seen enough playgroups.
Anyway, I have recently read an article that says at least 2 hours of free play for young kids is good for their learning and growth. If that is really true, then I guess Tara is a good option after all.
Too bad I cannot afford to accompany my DD in class everyday, that’s why I had to go for drop-off playgroups like Tara. -
