      yqyq,

      My kid is in P1.
I have no benchmark with the previous method of testing but I do see some benefits of these \"bite-size\" assessment. It does bring about some consistency in learning spread throughout a longer period instead of cramming a test in one week. I noticed they do get some revision work before the actual test which is good too. The time table given (in the purple file) is also good for parents like us to track what will be coming in the weeks ahead.

Maybe it is just P1 term 2 so I still do not feel the stress as a parent yet since many of the topics are still pretty fundamental (but important). Let's see how that goes into term 3 onwards.

Have you attended the PTM before?
      Can share your experiences?
      Hi,

I never attended before PTM as not required to do so. Usually the Form Teacher will inform the parent whether neceesary to meet up or not. As for my case, since P1, I will liaise with the respective Teachers either via SMS or email when I have any doubt or enquiry. So, they said no need meet me..haha...paiseh

        yqyq,

Oh, so it depends if the teacher wants to meet the parents. I thought it is a compulsory thing and we are not able to make it on the PTM day. Anyway, I have written emails to the form teacher couple of times and I must say she is pretty responsive.

Now that the June holiday is around the corner, I am struggling to think of activities to fill in the entire month. Any suggestions?

Not much planning for the June holiday, except a short trip to ChiangMai. Most likely will use this holiday as family bonding and let my dd and myself relax and enjoy before Term 3 start...then stress begin again

            yqyq,

Looks like there are only 2 of us in SQPS thread
Have a great trip to Chiangmai!

Due to my busy work schedule, I would probably do some activities selectively in Singapore, and perhaps a short drive trip to Desaru.

Hopefully, semester 2 for P1 will not be too stressful πŸ™

Agreed with yqyq. Encouragement to your dd is also important. Take this opportunity to encourage (not force) her to work harder for the next semester.

Many thanks for sharing, yeah, I also tried to explain to my girl and told her not to behave the same to her friends. hopefully after the school holidays, she will forget and have new starting πŸ™‚

She is now trying her best to study even harder. I cannot say much and cannot take her pass by her friend’s house :-(.
Seems to me she loves her friend a lots since they were from the same K1, K2 and P1.
She just shared w me and ask me why her friend always throw her papers (as the teacher asked them sent to her) on the floor. She went to ask her teacher and received the silent from the teacher 😞
Shall I or shall I not send an email and ask for help to the form teacher to look after the situation ?

                      Alph,
It's sad to see her friend of many years behaving this way but I guess this is part of growing up. It's common at this age to start seeing cliques of friends forming in school/class and if you think back, this is part of our childhood too. I would write an email to the form teacher and let her know about the feedback from school and ask if the form teacher can help to assess the situation. We are in the era where teachers and parents need to work hand in hand for the upbringing of our kids.
