Hi all,

Need some help on this question
A and B each have some sweets.
If A eats 6 sweets per day and B eats 3 per day, A would have 24 sweets left by the time B eats up all his sweets.
If A eats 3 per day and B eats 6 per day, A would have 51 sweets left by the time B eats up all her sweets.
How many sweets does each of them have?

Ans: A is 60 and B is 18

Hi, I need help with this P6 question:

The ratio of the number of twenty cent coins to the number of $1 coins in a box was 5:2. Two $1 coins were taken out and exchanged for twenty cent coins and the coins were then put back into the box. The ratio of the number of twenty cent coins to the number of $1 coins became 3:1. How much money was there in the box?

Use ratio and be sure to differentiate the number of notes from the amount.

$2 : $5
# ratio 1u : 1u + 4
Amount ratio 2u : 5u + 20
Total amount -> 7u + 20 = 76
1u = 8
# of $2 notes = 8.

# ratio -> 5 : 2

2 $1 coins -> $2 -> 10 20cents coins
new ratio - > 5u +10 : 2u - 2
= 3 :1

5u+10 = 3(2u - 2)
1u = 16

# of 20cents coins = 5u + 10 = 90
# of $1 coins = 2u - 2 = 30
Total amt = (90 * 0.20) + (30 * 1) = $48.

Ali has $300. He lost 1/3 of it and ends up with $200. To have the $300 again, he needs to win $100 which is ½ of the $200. 1/3 is known as the Losing Fraction (LF) and ½ is known as the Winning Fraction (WF). ½ times 1/3 = 1/6. 1/6 is the product of the LF and WF, known as the PLW. Find the LF and the WF if the PLW is 81/400.
