        1-2 slices a day is ok, not the whole loaf
        wholemeal bread is not fattening too

        Is the Carbohydrates

            L-earner:

            Still contemplating whether to take the plunge ... Dolphin mummy, u got urs at OG or Tangs?

            Happy mama 前辈,u bake more often now as compared prior to purchasing ur z-machine? I worry it might be a white elephant too... *sigh* To Be Or Not To Be leh??? :sad:

            Hi L-earner, not that I bake more often.. Just that I still do bake my loaves. We love the aroma of freshly baked bread and most important, it's home made, so no preservatives and we can choose what flavour we want or what ingredients we want in our bread. 😉

            So, to be or not to be.... The choice is yours. 😄

            Oh, ok... I agreed w u, I luv to bake bread too but I usually bake in 'bun' form, easy to pull apart n consume. For loaf bread my slicing technique is horrendous, the slices r uneven n too thick for toaster, if I slice thinly, the bread slices break ... :oops: So I was thinking to get th machine juz for kneading, might get stares :rant: fm DH

            @dolphinemummy, tks!

              @dolphinemummy, tks![/quote]You need to get the Bread Knife. My sliced bread used to look horrendous too (inconsistent thickness and texture), until I bought the knife. With the knife, I can now slice into 8 to 9 thin slices of bread and they look really lovely.

              A few of us bought our knives from Takashimaya... this brand called KAI. Some bought from Ikea while others bought from Phoon Huat... of course there are a few who bought the expensive branded ones. So again, the choice is yours. 😄

                  HELP :scratchhead:

                  前辈s,

                  If the bread recipe calls for 'powder milk', can substitute this with fresh milk in the liquid portion instead? Will this change affects the final product's texture n rise bec of the fat content?? :?

                      yes u can substitute with fresh milk but the water portion u have to decrease it lesser if not will be too watery
                      eg, if u put 50ml of fresh milk, the receipt calls for water 450ml, then the water u have to reduce to 400ml+/-

                      :thankyou: 前辈!
