A bit late for that now... why not just try LogicMills and MindChamps?

Shichida is more for children from 18mths - 6 yrs.

Prof Shichida believes that this is the crucial window for right brain development.
I think it's too late to enrol you child now. 😢

Actually, any one can develop the right brain/whole brain no matter what the age is. Although the various schools advocate starting the kid before 6, there are materials for children 6 and above all the way till adults.

I am not very sure if any classes offer right brain training for older kids in Singapore but the same company that create Tweedle Wink have another product \"Wink\" that is targeted at older kids

I am reading about right-brain training and stimulation that I am keen to expose my kid. Can anyone here recommend any schools or add on to the list of school for consideration?

              3.

Where can I get right-brain training materials for home-schooled kid? My kids are 3 and 1 yr old.

              Thank you!

My son has been attending Sichida since he was 1 year two months and it has been almost a year. Is it good? It is quite difficult to answer that. Has my son improve? Definitely! My son is generally a quite kid, so although he know certain words he will not say them. But after attending Sichida, he is more responsive and able to interact well with others compared to his first day of school. However, he cannot sit down throughtout the class and sometimes I feel like my money is going down the drain when he start walking around the class during lesson.

Having said that, I feel there is more to be improve. If I don’t see significant improvement in his second year, I might consider stopping and just send him to a good childcare permanently.

                  Hi blackdas,

Thank you for replying to my post.

Since your kid is there for coming a year, I am sure that you could advice me the following:

                  1. I understand that Shichida does a lot of linking memory. How is this done?

                  2. I also understand that they played different songs, eg. in Japanese, Germans, in french… is it at the background or it is a few minutes activity for this, solely to listen to the recorder? What does the teacher do? Do you know what is the objective of this activity?

                  3. What are the ESPs training? Could you name some of the activities? Is it a compulsory activity? What do you think of opening up your child spiritual side when he is still so young? (Hope you don;t get offended by this but I really want to be well-prepared for this)

                  4. Lastly, what do you do at home to enhance his learning? Lots of materials to prepare?

Ok I try my best to answer all the questions.

                    1. Linking memory is done by telling a short story using about six pictures. Normally the story does not make any sense (there is a reason to this but I forgot). After the teacher told the story, the toddlers are supposed to arranged in order his own set of picture cards based on the story told. Then they will overturn all the six cards. Then the teacher will show a picture and the toddler supposed to find that picture card from his set of cards.

                    2. During each lesson, there will be songs and stories in Japanese, Mandarin, Malay, Spanish, French and others. I not sure of the objective but I believe it is to exposed kids to different language. My colleague’s daughter who is about 2 and half years old can say plenty of French words and she has been attending for about two years. So I guess it does help.

                    3. ESP training in my lingo would be "Guess". Its not that I don’t believe in it, but I don’t know whether it can really work. The activities conducted in class are for example the teacher will show the kids three picture of bears and the kids are supposed to guess which one of the bear has a fish in he mouth. I not too sure if the ESP is related to spiritual. Like I say, to me is just a "Guess" maybe "Calculated Guess".

                    4. We are supposed to show flashcards and do some activities daily which should take about half an hour most. But i tend to skip most of them because I am working shift and it is not easy to do activities with him the same time every day. But I do show flashcards almost daily, and it does help. Believe me. It really helps!

I hope I managed to help you in a way.

Tweedle Wink have some right brain training materials. For right barin training toys like puzzles, memory games, there are some in Popular Book Store and Learning Fun. There are quite a number of threads discussing the different schools and training materials, linking memory in the http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewforum.php?f=7. Can check them out ...

There is also an episode on xiao chao ren that shows a little girl doing linking memory.
