Considering A* to be > or equal to 91 marks in the PSLE, does it mean that one have to score close to full marks for MCQ? Is it easier to score say 56/60 for science MCQ. How well does your child do in the MCQ section?
A* for PSLE may not be 91 marks - it is dependent on the bell-curve. -

I though A* is 91 marks and above ?? :scratchhead:PiggyLalala:

My son scored 74% for his Science...his class average is 79% for this subject. This time round, CA/SA required more analytical thinking for Section A MCQ questions. -

However, for PSLE, A* is based on bell-curved. In year whereby that subject paper is more difficult, A* cut-off may be lower than 91. However, the exact cut-off is never revealed to students / parents. This is also what DS teachers told us. -

A*, A* grades etc...are based on raw scores...nothing to do with bell-curve. Bell-curve only for T-scores.PiggyLalala:

HI Mummies and Daddies,
I really hope my son can score A* for his Science…bcos it’s a subject he loves most…and the subject with the most assessment books too. Get my son to practice on P3/4 Science to revise and have a better understanding of life cycles and systems. -

for sch computation, A* is based on 91 marks and above but......
in actual PSLE, it may not be the exact score of 91
( could be lower than 91), with relative with the whole cohort.
i remember that i ever raised a question to my gal's teacher.......
in her school, during the P5 and P6,
NONE of the students could obtain an A* for Eng,
highest was near to 90 but never 91 marks.
i believe most of u will agree with me that 85 and above
for Eng is considered excellent for P6 level.
my Q to the teacher was ,\"does it mean that noone in the sch will get an A* for Eng for PSLE ??\"
and her reply was the above which i have juz mentioned.
btw, my gal had obtained an A* for Eng in PSLE,
which she never able to get it in her school exams in P5 and P6.
in fact, as i have said, none of her ex-classmates in her school had gotten 91 marks b4......
but a simple comparison made reveals that......
those who have scored above agg 260, had gotten an A* for English.......
