I just want to ask ... those who put their child in the infant care.. do you notice the immobile babies are always in the rockers? For long periods of time?

actually, not only MFS, i ever surveyed those private infant care, they too let the babies on the rocker for long period of time.. the aunty/teacher will be chit-chatting most of the time. i even saw they put two baby(able to stand) in the same cot.. they will stack on each other when fall.. tt's why if u have a choice, or manage to find a better infant care, else, get nanny.. after 1 yo then put them to infant care (infant care usually takes in baby from 3 to 18 mths).. cos very pitiful to see how they spend time there..
but once they start to be mobile.. teachers will play with them and the environment there is very good with bright pictures/toys that moves on the wall for the fine/gross motor skill training.. tt's my observation for infant care.

and one more point to highlight, MFS infant care usually do not have much windows… so the babies will be kept in enclosed rooms with lights… tt’s very unhealthy i feel. im not sure the reason as i dun intend to put my baby there . if u intend to put, please check on this. i feel babies too need sunlight…

Mine to be on mattress to move about she is back in the rocker within a few min. I brought it up to them and they keep telling me they are professionals! I know they gossiped about me being fussy/ demanding but I want to encourage her to crawl and not in the rocker

It’s only after I placed her in then o realized this is what they do. I am really upset and want to withdraw her but just need to check I am right in feeling uncomfortable of this whole situation

for those able to crawl /walk is better.. i feel the teachers will engage them in activities.. but younger than tat. the environment is not that ideal.. how to stilumate their senss if they are being rocked/lied on cot most of the time.. listening to the teacher's chit-chatting.. and it's not good to rock them in the first place..

u see how it goes.. u may look for another infant care but do observe for urself the environment and how they handle the babies before u switch. most of the infant care are the same.. i dare tell u..

My DS was in the Infant Care when he was 8mths. He was able to crawl and more mobile then so he was not in the cot most of the time. In the first week, he knocked his head several times and I was super upset with the teachers.

They claimed that he is too active and by the time they want to catch hold on him, it was too late. I raised my concern to them and since they know my DS is super active, they should pay more attention to him. They did and most of the time, either he is in the playpen playing toys (which i think is most of the time), or one of the teacher will be attending to him: carry him or play with him.

When he is much older, they engage activities for him.. like painting, reading story books and playing balloon to build their senses and coordination. I was surprised :boogie: to see all the photos of my DS when I withdraw him from the school. My DH wanted to withdraw him as he fall sick very often.. like once a month and its like never stop kind. And now, he still fall sick very easily :sad:

Of coz when there is a choice, its good not to place our babies at the Infant care. Without any help around, then we cant complain too much but to :xedfingers: that our kid doesnt fall sick. When baby is sick, they cant go to sch, need to see doc, we need to take leave to look aft the baby.. :moneyflies:

There definately have pros and cons placing them there.

I have a child in My First Skool’s Compassvale Link Branch under Playgroup. Yesterday, I just received an agreement form, informing us that from 01 Jul 2011 onwards, there would have no milk feeding before nap time at 12.30pm. The milk feeding is from the milk powder provided by parents to the centre.

Of course I do not agree to this and so I did not sign the form.

When my child was at Toddler class same branch, there were once to have 2 milk feeding times, which were given before nap time & 5.30pm, but was reduced to 1 time(before nap) since the beginning of the year. After my child went to Playgroup this year, there would have no milk feeding from 01 Jul 2011 onwards.

I would like to ask parents who have put their children in other branches’ Playgroup class, may I know is there milk feeding (from milk powder provided by parents) given to your child before nap time & evening time around 5.30pm?

I have called My First Skool’s HQ. They asked me to talk to the principal instead, as they are not involved in the milk feeding issue in the branches.

I hope there are some replies from you all.

i think it's MFS policy or something... may not be policy, maybe their practise.. my DD was having the same thing when she was in playgroup. I have the same reaction as you. But, you can continue to bring one feed of milk powder, the teacher are not that strict actually, they will still give ur child if they ask for milk. This is what i do. Eventually, when most of the kids in their class don't drink, our child will follow too. so it wont have problem.

Just make sure u give them milk once in the morning, and once before sleep, good enough for their milk intake.

MFS means My First School. DD means Dear Daughter . shortforms used in forum.

when u decided to put ur child in childcare(CC), there are many habits that u can changed with the teacher's help. with the help of CC teacher, my DD drinks milk from cup when she is 3. they encourage drinking from cup than milk bottle which is not good for the teeth development and speech as i was told.
