Not expensive lah. No need milk powder and diapers if you bf and toilet-train from birth(altho' I too lazy to do that, but friends do).

Yes, fortunately I have another 6 months in P5 to go...hopefully he will be able to grasp the meaning of comprehension passages...what he really needs is a good teacher who can guide and inspire him.yes, I'm now the backup for everything! Less stress...

Janet, need not be a teacher actually. My DD’s compo tutor is someone who has a flair for the language and likes children. I can see the difference in the way DD writes already…

Agreed. Most important the tuition teacher has the interest and ability to teach that subject. Some that claims to be school teachers and know the syllabus are only confined to classroom teaching materials and methods, or do not know the available resources from external. These may do more "harm" in "killing interest" for that subject as they only impart what they taught in school.

If my son doesn't write a compo which starts on a high and ends abruptly...I would be very happy. In any case, I always remind him NEVER write situational type as it is easy for him to go out of point...safer to follow a pic. -

Janet, you are referring to continuous compo. Situation compo all kids will have to write - it is those emails, announcement, report, etc. The compo component has a picture / continuous compo (choose one), as well as a situation one (fixed - no choice).Peony:

The situation compo - email, announcement, diary stuff is compulsory. Was referring to the continuous type which has no pic that he has to stay away from. For the SA1, he had to write 'diary' for situation compo. -

Dear fellow parents of P5-ers,
It's just a few more days till the start of the new semester and I thought I'd share my thoughts and feelings.
Most of us here felt the pressure of the \"big jump\" and for some of us, it was big enough to cause a \"paradigm shift\"... where we took a step back and re-evaluated everything, from our expectations, to the path our kids are treading on.
We'd planned to use the June hols to regain momentum and help overcome weaknesses.
Now, if it goes according to predictions by others who'd taken this path, our kids should have gotten a better footing and we parents may start feeling less jumpy.
Am so hoping for that!!
Whatever your situation is, I hope that we will be able to breathe and let our kids have balance in their lives, for as I said to DD, if they are not able to balance at age 10/11, how are they going to as they get older and their plates get more and more full? The \"price\" to pay for a stressed out child is too great - if you get my drift...
So fellow parents, let's keep one another as well as our kids sane and happy.
