Was really excited to know that someone has been accepted to PV at SCGS.

We called the school up and they were really tight lipped about which skill sets they need for successful consideration.

Would anyone be kind enough to share which skills (in your opinion as well) set would be given a better chance at PV-ing at SCGS?

Ability to teach chinese is highly desirable.

            Hi,

I noticed that SCGS intake for P1 is 200 students. May I know how many students in a class? From what I see, there are normally 30 students in a class right, so it means there are 6 classes with 30 students, and 1 class with 20 students?

Do you how many PVs do they accept?

I did try to check with the teachers but the school don't really want to disclose.

From what i see, it is about 10. I do see a lot of returning parents. So if you get in, you are really lucky.

Any parent care to share. living within 1 km between St joseph Junior and ACS primary Barker. Father old boys of St Andrew Junior. Would prefer ACS Primary nearer to home. Wonder balloting within 1 km at ACS Barker. I know changes are very slim. sigh!!

                    Hello,

I am hoping to get some advice from seasoned kiasu parents! We moved to SG two years ago from NYC and became PRs last year. We have a 5 year old daughter that we would like to enroll in the local system but feel at a loss in terms of which school to choose.
We live in under 1 Km from Raffles GS, but scared about stories on the amount of academic pressure on the girls. I don’t think that would be the right environment for our girl. Heard good things about SCGS in Novena, and MGS but then >2Km …am I wasting my time by trying to enroll her in those schools?

Is it possible to contact schools for a visit? I realize that I am very late in the process but any advice would be highly appreciated!

                    Thanks in advance!!!

                      loveSG,

All the three schools you mentioned are very popular and the chances of balloting for SCGS and MGS are very high so living beyond 2km would almost definitely put you out of the running. You stand a much higher chance of getting into RGPS as you live within 1km. RGPS is a good school and they do prepare the girls well for PSLE, as there’s no affiliated secondary school.

I doubt if the schools will entertain a visit.

I live in Novena, and trying to get my son into ACS Barker which is withn 1km. The changes are very slim, the other choices are StJoseph Junior. Any comment from kiasu parent.
