Generally to put it simple, both RVPS & RMPS are well sought schools in the Bukit Merah & Central area. In terms of Chinese language standard, RVPS have a better edge compare with RMPS. In summary, the Chinese standard are as follow (Reference from 1 of the Chinese language teacher)
(1)\tRiver Valley Primary (Highest in Chinese Standard)
(2)\tRadin Mas Primary ( 2nd highest)
(3)\tZhangde Primary (3rd highest)
(4)\t CHIJ (Kellock) (The lowest in Chinese standard)
I have yet to verify the std from Blangah Rise, Gan Eng Seng Pri & the newly Cantonment Primary. So parents may want to use this parameter as part of their evaluation process. How I wish RMPS have a much higher Chinese standard & heritage as much like RVPS. -
Hi Titank,
you are really very well-verse in all the schools! After reading all the posts, I think I will put RMPS as my 1st choice. RVPS is definitely out le… since it is so well known, i doubt i have any chance. Might as well put all my energy in RMPS instead!
Thanks a million!!!
Now the question is whether to do PV or not. -
If you have been given a place in the PV then just clocked the hours & register in Phase 2B. I had spoken with a VP of RMPS where he analyse the pros & cons between RMPS & RVPS. Anyway with the new HDB flat of Duxton Pinnacle, it defintely exert some pressure at RMPS & RVPS as both of then are in the 1-2km range.

...which means these parents will try to apply as PV so that their children will get in to these schools, leaving fewer places for P2C.
Hence, if you are able to set aside some time as a PV, it will definitely take some stress off during P1 registration. -
We should be able to see some pressure in the P1 registration at Phase 2B & Phase 2C in 2011 or 2012 where RVPS had take in 60 PV’s!
Assuming all these 60 PV’s had clocked the minimum 40 hours of PV duties. -

Actually, I am not too sure whether the information provided in the other thread is reliable. That's my opinion only.We should be able to see some pressure in the P1 registration at Phase 2B & Phase 2C in 2011 or 2012 where RVPS had take in 60 PV's!

Last year, someone mentioned that RMPS had 50 PVs. In the end, only 20+ applied in P2B. -

From your SMC, you still have 2 choices of CHIJ(Kellock) and RMPSGenerally to put it simple, both RVPS & RMPS are well sought schools in the Bukit Merah & Central area. Yes if last time under Tanjong Pagar GRC can have more choices!

Hi Titank,
Can you share with us on the pros and cons btw the 2 schools?
