What has happened in the South View Primary Sch drama?
Yes, I am worried now after chancing upon news on RV website that registration for PV scheme for the next batch after mine is opened and they are capping it down at 30. So really makes me wonder why did they pushed up the PV for children admitting the sch btwn 2010-2013 (my batch - register in 2012). It does coincides with Mr Poh joining as a principal in 2009 probably to give more parents a chance as P2B. Just wondering why did they reverse the policy for the next batch registering in 2013
Thinking: oh dear! have I placed my bet wrongly with RV and it is too late to do PV anywhere else since gotta do at least a yr before registration and all PV schemes available wld have closed anyway  -

You have not consider those joining P2B via GRL path. So technically there will be more than 60 fighting for the same quota in P2B

In one of the year, South View Primary have too many PV’s that it ended up a balloting situation in Phase 2B. Normally "responsible" school would limit their PV to maximum 30, this would be a win win situation where all PV would confirm a place unless there is a huge influx of grassroot leaders join in. The school also would assess this risk factor where even if grassroot leader join in, the PV’s also have high chance remain 'untouchable"
If your child is entering P1 in 2013, I believe there is PV application open at GESPS, ZDPS where closing date would be 30 June 2011. -
Yes, that happened in Nanyang Primary in 2002 too. After that they were very careful not to repeat it.

Hopefully now all primary schools would limit the number of PV so as not to give PV a kind of "Mission Impossible" in their Phase 2B registration!
RVPS last time the PV form need to be self collected from the school admin. Maybe now the new Principal is more IT prone where list the information in the website. -
There was balloting at phase 2B at Nanyang Primary outside 2km last year too. I guess too much seats were taken up at phase 2A2.

I agree with you! Otherwise it wont be fair to the PVs! After volunteering for so many hours, their chance of hope of having their child getting into the school seems to be gone!

True but some schools just taking PV like free labour supply from the parents. :gloomy:

It will apply be it for PV or GRL. -
@titank & jtoh: thanks for the insights on the two schools. Indeed, as a PV, I will feel very disappointed and upset if the school takes in much more PV then it could offer in real places and give false hope plus wasting a precious chance
We were deliberating btwn RMPS and RVPS and were more impressed by RV. We ain't too keen in the rest of the schools like ZDPS etc n wld probably go to Cantonment Pri as the backup plan if all else fails since it is just opposite our place. So far, I've heard good testimonials abt Cantonment PS from existing parents, and thinking positively abt going to a nearby neighbourhood Sch will be time savings that cld be used for attending enrichment classes?
Meanwhile, I'll just do my best in fulfilling my PV duties @ RV and pray really hard that I've taken the right \"train\" since we only have time and logistics for one PV path \"ticket\" :xedfingers:
