The answer is no. The form 'to lose' is an infinitive acting as an adverb to modify the adjective 'careless'. It is not a verb and so is not conjugated into forms such as the present perfect.

For P5, is it advisable to switch to P6 assessment for Synthesis ?
My worry is the school will use some connectors taken from P6 assessment books for SA2. Pls advise. Thanks

Hi, I would say yes. If your child has finished with the P5 assessment for synthesis. Then there is no harm going on to the P6.

Personally, I have not yet found a good sythesis guide or assessment book. I think the best guide that i have now is the explanation from ridcully. :thankyou: Not only did she give the correct answer, she also took time to explain why certain answers are not acceptable. I feel much can be learned from the answers and to ensure that our kids do not make the same mistakes.

Yes. There is considerable overlap between P5 and P6. In my experience, a lot of schools try to cover some of the P6 material in P5 so that more of the P6 year can be devoted to revision. Don't forget that little new material is covered in P6 after about March anyway.

BTW I think the interest you show in your children's education is very commendable.

I rely upon my own knowledge gleaned from being in the educational field for nearly thirty years rather than books from Popular etc! Yes, I'm long in the tooth.

However, of the books from Popular, I have found the P4, P5 and P6 versions of 'Synthesis and Transformation' by Carolyn Lee to be the best.

BTW, I am a daddy, not a mummy. :rahrah:

Thanks for your recommendation.
A friend recommended Carolyn Lee's Synthesis & Transformation too !! I have a few titles of S&T by diff authors bcos it's not possible to find many connectors in 1 title itself...compared those found in son's exercises from school with several others at Popular from time to time.

Will be switching to P6 for Comprehension, Synthesis & Grammar asap...I have enough of heart attacks :sick: since the beginning of the year. Once again, thanks for your advice.

There are many mummies at KSP...but there are several dedicated daddies here too. :rahrah:
Hope Carolyn introduces a P3 book for S&T. Daughter's school already teaching Synthesis at P1.

Janet, your school is very advanced. Our stellar programme worksheets were still covering basics in P1 n P2 and hence exams do not have this topic yet, not even P3 first semester, maybe that is why they still can score in the exams, the toughest is yet to come.
