Children Suicide Cases

:goodpost:Hi...
I think we need to see these Children Suicide Cases from 3 angles...
1) Character development...
I am of the opinion that our society and education place too much emphasis on academic development and too little value in character development. Our children needs strong internal values...higher EQ...the ability to be able to stand up again after a fall. Strong character not to succumb to peer pressure or fear of making mistakes or facing failures.
2) Family relationship...
Our modern family relationship with its falling communication/relationship with each other in the family with all its partner problems(divorce, gambling, addiction...) contribute to the loneliness the child felt. The suicidal child has no one to turn to...There is little or no \"cocoon\" of rest, refuge and love for the child to turn to...maybe there is but it was not communicated to the child...
3) Societal pressure...
Our society place huge emphasis on achievement esp. academic achievement. Those who can't keep up will be left behind..so we were told since young.
I do not think these situations will be easily resolved...maybe it is inherent in the human nature...the Asian/Confucian mindset...blah blah...
I do believe that each of us..in our own sphere of influence...can love our family more..care a little more..reach out a little more. It takes a whole village (maybe a whole forum like KSP haa..!) to raise a child. All of us need someone to help, to support and to learn from...than perhaps we will see lesser of such tragedies.
My half-cent worth of opinion.... -
Totally agree, we got to communicate with our kids and make sure they clearly know that we care, love and support them always. They can always speak with us if they face any problem in life. That wanbao also has a photo of that girl, a sweet, loving and smart looking girl. What’s a waste…

At that age, sometimes, BGR affects them a lot. Must let them know family loves them the most, and whatever happens, family is there for them and love is at home.
When they think they are head over heels in love, family's loves matters least to them. The teens nowadays can't wait to grow up. :sad:yqyq:
So impt to let our children know we love them, remind them we love them and ask them if they know we love them.
Agreed.....must let them know we love them the most.. -

How would you react if your teens declare undying love for another girl/boy and tell you he/she only lives for the other party? As a parent, if you feel that your child is too young to be in a more than platonic one to one relationship which is affecting him/her in studies and all areas of life, would you still support his/her behaviour? Would you allow them to carry on the friendship or would you disallow any further development of the relationship? It's really not easy to handle such a situation. -

Fully agree with what you've written.Sometimes, it might not be the parents not taking care of the child...
At certain stage of their life, friends play a very important part of a child's world.
So we must always pray hard that they meet good friends and meet mentors who will help.
Also, the computer games and TV shows nowadays have too much of a \"bad\" influence... -

It is indeed not easy to handle that kind of situation. Some teens of that age can be really hard to talk sense into. The issue here is that we got to do what we can to prevent them from doing silly things - like taking their own lives. Still, sometimes, say is easier than done.............LLK:
