      hi everyone,

pardon my ignorance, but are there any registration forms that need to be filled before turning up to the school of my choice for registration on the specified date (for various phases)? i have glanced through this thread and read almost all relevant info on moe’s website… just couldn’t believe that parents just need to turn up with relevant docs on the day of registration!!! can someone enlighten this ignorant fool please, thanks!

        puff:
        YKVT:

. If u are joining alumni, must do it b4 30 June this year to qualify for the 2013 in take hor.

        Hi YKVT

To join alumni to qualify for 2A1?
DH is the ex-student and he insist to join alumni to double secure a place for DD (born in2006) however I think is not necessary. We have decided to monitor this year registration b4 making a decision. Do u mean tat it will be too late for us to join alumni if we decide to do so after this year registration result? :xedfingers:

If ur DD born in 06 then u have to join alumni before 30 June 2011 to qualify for 2A1. Means you only have 18 more days to do it.

Don't say that...we were once ignorant too 😉
There are no forms to be filled before registration. Remember to bring all the necessary documents on that day itself or it will be a wasted trip.
You would need to fill up your personal data on the day of registration in the presence of the admin staff and sign.

My friend is registrating under the same phase as I. Do you think I can ask the school to put them under the same class?

maybe call up school, do some homework first, find out to check - how does the school arrange for pupils to enter into different P1 classes, by what criteria ?

is it by the order of registration in sequence, or is it in random order ?
find out for P1 Term 1 2012 - does the school set tests for the pupils to enter different classes ? if Yes, which subject tested ?

eg: some schools set Chinese tests for P1 Term 1.
so even if you request for yr friend’s child and yr child to be together in the same P1 class initially, they may get separated again.

another question to call up the school to find out is - for your child’s school, do they start P1 Higher Chinese (HCL) ? If not, then at which level onwards start - P2 ?

changes are taking place rapidly, at the Education scene forefront.
China’s economy is booming fast, growing rapidly !

MOE is encouraging a number of Primary schools in SG to take up HCL, if their child can cope, and is fine with it. In the past, only SAP schools take HCL. Now, some non SAP schools are encouraged too. But note - not all schools, only some.

that’s why you see a lot of Kindergarten foreigner students (K1, K2 level) at various Kumon centres taking up Chinese now. You see Indian kids, angmo foreigner kids, Korean kids … all enrolled for Chinese. They may not take up HCL, but are certainly interested in taking up OCL (ordinary Chinese)

                  Hi

Another question, for those under P2A2, will we know whether a place is secured immediately after the registration? Or also need to wait?

HB was ‘old boys’ so is it better for him to go through the registration?

                  Sorry… our eldest child… so abit blur…

I can sense your kan-chiongness...
Typically it's sure-in... but there will be a specific date for results.
You can refer to MOE website for details...

Btw, to add to your kan-chiongness... there's P2A1 and P2A2... don't end up going to the wrong phase leh...
