they are all like that!!! haha. don't grade now. let him skip a couple of grades. don't waste money on grading every grade. The teacher said he is doing ok, just lack of practice, that's all he said. Though he has been learning violin for few mths now, when I asked the teacher whether he can sit for exam, he said can try next round, which is in feb next yr. So, I dunno if he is considered having talent for music?? But all I'm asking for is that whatever he does, try his best, not give me some kind of slobbish work, dun tell me that you practise one piece of music then tell me that you have already practiced lah...
It's his attitude that irk me a lot. -
Anyone knows if come 2012 when they are in Victoria old school site, will it be 1 or 2 sessions?
Thanks. -
I just spoke to SJI admin, they said will be 1 session next year.
I'm hoping to register my son in SJI for P1 next year and would like to seek advice from parents who had to ballot in phase 2B or 2C last year or previous years. Were you able to get information from the school on how many applicants there were before registration closed for either of the phases ?
I qualify for phase 2B but live >2km so definitely will have to ballot. Was hoping that the school will be able to provide info on the number of applications submitted by the 2nd day of registration so that I can assess the balloting chances before giving up a confirmed space in another school under phase 2A2. The SJI admin person I spoke to said they don't give out such info which is really not helpful.
Other schools I spoke to said they will provide the info as they understand that it is important for the parents to know so that they can make an informed decision on the chances of getting a place in the school.
Any SJI parents with similar experience to share ? Many thanks

hi yarex
Yes, SJIJ will be single session next year but it will be at its holding school in Kallang Bahru (former VS school). -
Thanks for the infor. Your son in SJI? Would like to know more about the school.
Hope u can give some information. Would like to register my son this year to the school.
Thanks -
Hi Yarex
What aspect of the school do u want to know? School is not the type that drive the kids very hard acadamically, but good place for boys to be boys. Being a catholic school, they also emphasise on christian values. Sure, there are always some boys who will do well academically whichever the school. Affiliation to SJI is also a plus point though the cut-off is quite high for the boys. Little homework in P1-2, P3 onwards, lesser "handholding" fm teachers. Boys have to do home work almost everyday and weekends in P3. They offer HCL from P2 onwards (optional). They also offer the Josephian program from P4 onwards (for those who cleared the gifted test-round 1 only) -
Thanks so much for replying so quickly. Is of great help. Hope to get a place next year (Phase 2C within 1km). Am staying next to Novena Church.
100 per cent PSLE passes? Is your boy studying in SJI junior? -
Does anyone subscribe to problem sums.com? It’s $55.
