Presidential Election 2011

[Angelight]

Yes, I have high regards for the late Mr Wee too. Had met him in person at an event, very approachable and no air at all. Mr Ong Teng Cheong was not too bad oso, quite people-oriented. Can't say the same of the current one though. And yes, $4m seems like an exorbitant amt for even a president. But as Mr SR Nathan would have told you, quote him: \"Although I've been quiet, I have been doing work.\" unquote.

Btw, he is coming out with a memoire, wonder if it's a \"tell all\" book... :nailbite:

needtoupdate:

i am ventilating my pent- up feelings:

if jayakumar and law minister shamugan say president just has blocking powers, and yet the pay is over 4 million per year
what sort of \"advanced foresight \"thinking and planning has been going on for the past two terms?
all WHOLE PAP elite should have bear responsibility for the \"over payment \"in view of such non executive role.
i have a more favourable impression of the late President Mr wee kim wee and his wife, who seemed to me to be more people-orientated

[fabrizzo]

do we only have pap related people as candidates?no opposition hopefuls?

[concern2]

It is a pity that CST isn’t eligible.

no idea, but if you pay me his salary, anything you say oso I do.

I was pleasantly surprised to read that Mr Tony Tan MAY be running for president. But also a bit suspicious why suddenly "everybody" seems to be coming out to run for president.

Mr GY suddenly changed his mind get his young friends to collect the forms for him.

So now:
1) TCB
2) TKL
3) GY
4) TT
5) ??

Without TT, I would vote for GY. With TT, I would vote for TT.

Waddo’uall…think?

[DesertWind]

The more I read the ST, the more confused I get. Or I should say they seem to be confirming what everybody is saying.

Ya, what actually does the President do?

(where are my emoticons? I want the one scratching his head!)

You looking for this? :scratchhead:

[concern2]

Albeit all that the President CANNOT DO, perhaps there is something of utmost importance that he needs to do - to keep his mouth shut, make and keep up appearances and sign documents?
