Hi all parents,


I have a child in My First Skool's BLK 269 Compassvale Link Branch under Playgroup. Yesterday, I just received an agreement form, informing us that from 01 Jul 2011 onwards, there would have no milk feeding before nap time at 12.30pm. The milk feeding is from the milk powder provided by parents to the centre.

Of course I do not agree to this and so I did not sign the form.

When my child was at Toddler class same branch, there were once to have 2 milk feeding times, which were given before nap time & 5.30pm, but was reduced to 1 time(before nap) since the beginning of the year. After my child went to Playgroup this year, there would have no milk feeding from 01 Jul 2011 onwards.

I would like to ask parents who have put their children in other branches' Playgroup class, may I know is there milk feeding (from milk powder provided by parents) given to your child before nap time & evening time around 5.30pm?

I have called My First Skool's HQ. They asked me to talk to the principal instead, as they are not involved in the milk feeding issue in the branches.

i think it's MFS policy or something... may not be policy, maybe their practise.. my DD was having the same thing when she was in playgroup. I have the same reaction as you. But, you can continue to bring one feed of milk powder, the teacher are not that strict actually, they will still give ur child if they ask for milk. This is what i do. Eventually, when most of the kids in their class don't drink, our child will follow too. so it wont have problem.

Just make sure u give them milk once in the morning, and once before sleep, good enough for their milk intake.

I would still pass milk powder to teachers for them to feed my child either before nap or around 4.30pm. I would discuss it with my partner. Having zero milk feed (milk powder from parents) at centre, is definitely disagreeable by me.

Besides talking about nutritional values, it is easier for my child to fall asleep by drinking milk before nap. That is my child's habit, before go to sleep.

MFS means My First School. DD means Dear Daughter . shortforms used in forum.

when u decided to put ur child in childcare(CC), there are many habits that u can changed with the teacher's help. with the help of CC teacher, my DD drinks milk from cup when she is 3. they encourage drinking from cup than milk bottle which is not good for the teeth development and speech as i was told.

My DD was in the Toddler from 2 feed reduced to 1 feed and then to no feed at all before she went to playgroup. They toilet trained her during her stay in playgroup time too. It is actually good for me and I don't think there is any issue with it. Our kids should eat other stuff rather than depending more on milk


As they grow older, our kids will follow the rest of the kids in the cc too. Now my DD is 4yo and she still drink milk once in the morning and one before bedtime. :boogie:

hi…any comments on My first skool at blk 341 tampines st 33…so far my 3 year old son had been there for 2 weeks in Playgroup…every morning when i send him there ,and leave,he will cry for me,then when i am out of sight,he stopped crying,


his teacher feedback to me tat he likes to particpate in the activities especially art and crafts,eats alot and naps well…but one thing is tat he fell twice and scracthed his elbow while having outdoor activity,sigh

however, ever since he started schooling there, he began to stutter, which worries us ,cos before this, he can talk really well…any mummies can share experience? i already asked his teacher to monitor him and guide him along the way…

today when i send him to school…he did not cry surprisingly,and i am glad…but just worry abt his stuttering,not sure isit becos adapting to new school…thus causing him to stutter,

i realised that their curriculum for playgroup is not very comprehensive,as in no phonics or worksheets,more hands on and crafts work…mayb i am too used to my son’s previous cc, which already started phonics in playgroup and worksheets were given,


any of u can comment on their curriculum for nursery onwards?..are they sufficient for pri 1 entry?

oh,i am also gg to send my gal to the toddler group in Aug,any comments in their toddler class?..

Im not sure abt Tampines branch, maybe mambob can share. i think it's stages that some children will go thru with stuttering. My DD experience that too, i dun think it has to do with the CC. it's just they are trying to say things that they \"heard\" and unable to speak it out. it will be ok after awhile, tt's my DD case. but do monitor and inform the CC teacher to correct them too. Last time, i work with my DD CC teacher, they will always tell her, speak slowly and say one word at a time, and this helps to overcome her stuttering. u can try this with ur child.

MFS is now using image/pretend play with lots of arts/craft and creative learning in their teaching. Phonics was taught in nursery. in playgroup, my DD learnt alphabets, nursery rhymes. songs.. arts/crafts.. movements.. tt's all.

In my opinion, it's never enough to depend on what is taught in MFS, so either u put on more effort to teach at home or u send ur child to enrichement classes.. tt's what i do.

Hihi Just to share, my DD is with MFS Jurong Pt branch since she was 14 months old. Overall, am quite satisfied with the school except that she always fall sick once a month- nothing very major,just running nose. From what I had read from this thread, am pleasantly surprise to learn that they provide enrichment classes. Will definitely check it out with the teachers on this next week.

My DD is at the 487 branch. Yes, playgroup does not have any phonics and worksheet for them. They learn hands on activity. Only when they start phonics in Nursery. Worksheet is only once in a while.

For me, as a FTWM, I dont expect alot of worksheet from the cc.. haha.. no time lah..

As for stuttering, yes, i realised that when my DD started to talk too. But it will be ok once they can get what they want to speak in their tiny brain.. don't worry.. even now sometimes my DD doesnt speak proper sentence too. They are still learning. Just correct them once you think it is not correct.
