What are the fees like currently?

There are many branches now, all those u mention above all hv. Except CCK. Abit sensitive to discuss about the fees. Different centres got different charges. Some got discount, some got GST. Better to check it out yourself.

No parent classes. Parents already has kids with CMA, can learn together with yr kids. Don't understand, ask teacher.

Big things like setting up abacus thread, should leave to the \"da ren wu\". I am only a small teacher. :politebleah:

Btw, parents who giving/getting reference to get intro discount, pls feel free. I m sure the introducer are providing reference bcos they feel course has benefited their kid in some ways.

Ai..yah.. yah.. can't tell u where I am from lah. Can be quite sensitive among centres, wait people think I am trying to pull customers. I just want to help answer or clear some doubts that some parents have. Sorry about it.

I suppose i'm not the average human who needs the 8-10hrs

sleep cycle bah.. Dunno lah why, since young like this and
plus in runs in the family too! All of us except my daddie
usuali stay up late.. It can be a bane if one doesn't know
what to do with so much time awake. I take it positively
that it gives me more time to do a lotta things like
planning stuff to do with my kiddies, finish more housework
before daybreak so i have my afternoons free with them....
Or i can just catch up on movies i have yet to watch, but
most times i like KSP-ing. Hehee.. :lol:

Wah, CCK dun have aah? Why like dat.... Mebbe i should open
one in CCK area, haa... :lol: Aniwae, how soon can the results
be evident using CMA method? Like for home tutors usually one
can get to see some fruit of labour in 2 to 3 months time... Like
wise for slimming programme.. so how about abacus?

This is my personal view…


Tangible benefits, after the 1st term for younger kids, you should see some improvement on motor skill, beading the abacus and doing simple sums independently. For an older child (P1 above) with better understanding of what is being taught, will be able to progress faster, become more sensitive to numbers, know the number bondings better (1+9=10, 2+8=10…, 1+4=5, 2+3=5…), calculate faster.

Intangible benefits, the kids are also training their right brain at the same when they learn mental arithmetics, learn to focus and visualise.

Results varies from child to child. Most important is to encourage them and be patient with them.

Hi, my girl can do addition & subtraction with ease now. She's familiar with the formulae. Teacher said she will be progressing to multiplication level soon. My girl had memorised 1-9 multiplication table to prepare for her next level per her teacher's instruction

I'm wondering, what are the benefits of continuing beyond multiplication level to more advanced levels?
Do you feel that up to multiplication level is already sufficient for primary school?

If the kid only learn the basic for a short period of time and did not master it, he probably will forget it due to lack of practise. For a kid who has mastered it, after quitting the class, he will not forget but his calculation speed will slow down.

Actually, I also have questions to ask. My daughter has been on CMA for about a year now. We let her do it at her own pace with the once-a-week class as she has many other activities as well. How do you define \"master it\"? At what stage would one consider as having mastered it?

Before we sign her up for abacus, a lot of people told us that their kids had gone through it (may not be CMA but some other abacus lessons in the market), but found it to be a waste of time as the kids eventually gave up half way. What's your take on this and any advice for parents here to make sure that their children would not 半途而废？

Depends on what is your objectives for letting your girl learn abacus. Only to do calculation or for brain development. Some parents ask why learn abacus when my child can use calculator in school? The same reason why we would still go jogging when we have so many other mordern mode of transport (quoting Mr Tay - CMA CEO). Japanese invented the soroban (abacus) and are still teaching their children how to use it. They believe if we rely on using the calculator too much, our brain become \"hazy\".

U know she has mastered it when u see her starring at the string of numbers on her worksheet, u thought she is day dreaming and ask her \"are u doing yr work?\", she answer \"of course.\" and writes the answer down. Haha!!

As for how to make sure the child don't give up half way, I think it's the same for any new thing or new skill the child is learning. Lots of encouragement and taking interesting in what they are doing.

We're the same as you... Letting DS1 do abacus once a week at his own pace. So far I think he does fully understand the concepts ie to do mental calculations... Will let him carry on to establish the foundation first... Sometimes we just need to persevere a bit longer let them go thru the process even tho we may not see much results now... But once they 开窍 I think the results will be exponential

I know you are going to say it varies from child to child, but based on what you have seen or experienced, how long does it take to come this stage that you have described, on the assumption that the child goes to CMA once a week? Just an average will do, for me to be mentally prepared... If you tell me that it would take 6 years, think I will :faint:

By the way, since you are teaching at Woodlands branch, is that the HQ? If not mistaken, the owner is an old acquaintance (parents of DD's classmate in a particular right-brain enrichment program). Please send them my regards!
