      cxx3213:
could you please explain the workings?

      Hi

MD is an option to solve this question.
MD refers to “Model Drawing” or “Model Diagram”.

MD could also mean “Mum (loves) Dad.

And to all kids, enjoy your holidays and do your homework with “OWC”
Oh, OWC doesn’t mean “Obedient Wife Club” but “Only With Care” in this case so as to minimize careless mistakes.

May I take this opportunity to wish all daddies in KSP a very “Happy Father’s Day\".

      Best wishes

                    Need help here !

Q1. Farmer A had 9 times as many hens as goats. After he sold 24 goats, he had 15 times as many hens as goats. How many more hens than goats did he have at first?

Q2. A & B have the same number of marbles at first. After A gave 35 marbles to B, A has 3/8 as many marbles as B. How many marbles does each of them have at first?

Q3. At Maisy's birthday, there were 36 adults and children. Each adult received 3 sweets and every 3 children received 2 sweets. If 59 sweets were distributed, how many children were at the party?

Q4. Tom & Jeff had the same number of cards at first. After Tom gave 65 cards to Jeff, Tom had 2/7 as many cards as Jeff. How many cards did Tom have at first?

Q5. Jason had 4 times as much savings as Leonard at first. After they each received an equal amount of money from their parents, Leonard had $45 and Jason had twice as much in the end. How much did Jason receive from his parenrs?

                      Hi mama_10

I’ll take Q3 first, simply because it’s a happy occasion. Children love attending birthday parties.

You may use a strategy called “Make a Supposition”
One starts by “Assume,or suppose or pretend that all 36 people were adults”

                      Hope this helps.

                      Best wishes

                        Hi

Students from the lower primary session may use a strategy called \"Systematic Listing\"

                        Hope this helps.

                        Best wishes.
