      Willow:
Hi , just want to find out if anyone knows how is BTPS like ? i am within 1 km of Pei Hwa( my first choice for my boy this year), but there's balloting for last year phase 2C too. Really stressed out....want to hear from the rest of u if yr kids are in BTPS....thanks

BTPS is like the top choice for kids who do not get into the likes of RGPS/NYPS/PHPPS/NH etc...my relative have children there and the sch is not too bad from what i see.
Apparently it was also rumoured that this sch usu produces quite a number of children who qualify for gifted program (GEP)...so u may want to find out more abt this sch from some of the threads here.

My son is in PHPPs P1..he was not successful in phase 2C within 1Km balloting last year, we actually applied for BTPS...but before sch term starts, we were short-listed from PHPPS waitlist so we re-enrolled with PHPPS. If you want to know more, u can pm me.

I agree it can be stressful, so all the best to your P1 registration.

Thanks so much XYZ1 for yr pm....took me a few days cos i exceeded many of times to login & have to rest password.....i bug my hubby to drive us over to BTPS to take a look, even though still within1 km, but wow it's way too far to walk... i think we will still try at phase 2C for Pei Hwa...though we can go straight to South view ( hubby's sch). PH is still closer to our place. dun think i can truly relax till Aug this year :gloomy: ....it's turning into a headache ...even thot of disturbing the principal now to 'promote' my boy via email or offer last min volunteer work  ...hahaHa

I suggest do physically check out BTPS 1st. The principle changed, together with several new teachers. Details I can't reveal much

Yes, there is an open house once a year, but I cannot remember when. It is a carnival organises by parents' group. If you want to visit, you need to call someone/admin to make arrangement. The security was very strict when we were there. Yes, they have gone single session last year.

Just saw from MOE website, there are some schools which have reduced intake for this year registration:

Henry Park- from 330 to 300
Pei Hwa- from 330 to 300
                    RGPS- from 300 to 270

I guess the reason behind the reduced intake is due to lack of space and also reduced number of children. After 2000/2001, there are considerable lesser kids. Last year also saw unexpected ballot for some schools.

I think is due to the lack of space, as for lack of children, I dont think so... the birth rate is about the same as last year. I m sure there will be alot of balloting.
