        L-earner:
        Mummy2008,

Recipe (from this book -> mouthwatering classics, biscuits & slices step.by.step)

        150g unsalted butter
1/4cup soft brown sugar (I use organic sugar for both sugars)
        1/3cup caster sugar
        1 egg yolk
1tsp vanilla essence (try to use pure, taste better)
        1 1/2cups self-raising flour(I use organic version)
1cup choco dots (I use troll choco semisweet)

        Method
        1. Preheat oven 180degC.
        2. Beat butter, sugars n yolk till light n creamy, add essence, beat till combined.
        3. Add flour n 2/3 choco dots. Use metal spoon stir till combined.
        4. Use finger press to form soft dough, roll one tbsp mixture @ a time into a ball.
        5. Press remaining choco dots firmly on top of balls.
        6. Allow room for spreading, bake 15min or until crisp n lightly browned.
        7. Let cool n store.

        Hey, post pic ok?
        Thanks l-earner

                      hi mummies & daddies here,

was into baking recently & was wondering

                      1) when the recipe mention beat till light & fluffy, usually hw long this takes & on what speed of the beater we used?

                      2) if we used whipped cream (those directly from cans) do we still whipped them in the mixer?

sorry, am a blur sotong here.

                        poppy,

                        1) im still L-plate but i usually beat the egg+sugar+butter (i assume u r talking abt cookies) till the batter is pale and the consistency is like yoghurt. i beat by hand like 8-10 min (depending on my arm-power on that day of course), i read fm books/net, u shd beat on low for like 2 min when all incorporated, than switch to high speed till the batter is pale.

                        2) if i use whipped cream (for cake, i supposed), i juz fold-in to the mixture.

not sure if i m doing these right, but my cake and cookies turn out ok, so i think to a certain extend im not very far from right šŸ˜“

                        hope these help
