      bigfoot:
I was in the same situation as you last year. I'm staying less than 100m from CHS!

Anyway, we ended up in Maris Stella. So far so good. My advise is that you don't take the risk if you don't want to risk ending up in Phase 2C or 2C supplementary. But it's really up to you. Good luck! πŸ™‚
      mummygina:

The phase 2B application for Catholic High last year was shocking! 5 times \"oversubscribed\"!

Now I am in dilemma: take my 20% chance with CH (I live <200m from CH!) or 100% chance with hubby's alma mater Marist Stella?

Anyone with firsthand advise on these two schools please? Thanks!

If CHS phase 2B is 500% oversubscribed, Phase 2C will not be any better as there will be 400% unsuccessful from 2B moving to 2C + any other additional neighbourhood application. Chances on CHS for 2B and 2C are therefore at about 20%+- success rate in this scenario.

Considering this, why give up a 100% success chance at an earlier phase for a 20%+- chance at later 2 phases? Should really do your sum before going in.

Thanks bigfoot and Grandmaster. Going by statistics alone, MS wins.

A tiny bit of good news for those aiming for CHS this year, the number of places is increased to 240 vs last year’s 210.

There is a free P1 Education seminar offered by Guangyang PS to all community's residents. Guess there's no harm to register and listen to it.

              Hi mummies,

Just wanna do a check if anyone would be registering their kid at guangyang pri for 2012? Its coming back to a brand new premise and i wonder if that would be a plus for them.

Hi mummygina, the fact that my son returns home everyday with stories to tell and looking forward to school is a good indication that the school is doing something right. In terms of learning and teaching it really depend on the teachers and not the school. The profile of students in both msh and chs is about the same, I feel. And both are offering hmt.

A new school building would definately be a plus for guangyang pri due to the improved learning environment and facilities. Sometimes the environment does count for the kids as this will live in their memory forever. Have the impression they are on the rise. Of course for top academy concern they can't match CH in the community. Sometimes you just have to weight your priority.

Thanks for your sharing Bigfoot. I think it's also a testament to u and your son's caregivers that he enjoys school πŸ™‚

I am considering between AT (<1km) and KCPPS (>2km) for phase 2B. Last yr for AT, <1km also needed to ballot compared to all those in 2B for KCPPS got in. AT is really ideal for us as it is walking distance. Shall I try for AT if applicants exceed places or go for the sure win KCPPS?

You should wait till Phase 2B to make the decision. See the number of applicants at AT exceed by how many places and whether you should take the gamble. Staying within walking distance of a school is really great advantage.
