How long your kid use the eye-drop? My kid just started 1 week, he looked like can cope with the glaring with his progressive plus transittions lens. Do you adjust the lighting to dimmer at home? or just leave it as usual?

My girl also started a week ago. Her current specs is progressive but not transitions. She doesn't complain about any glare. We make her wear a cap when she is outdoors and if it's really sunny, I shade her with an umbrella like a princess 😄

The lights at home are yellow. We did not adjust.

How old is your kid? Is his degree as bad as my dd? Hers is R 575, astig 300 and she is a 2005 child

Just back from kkh review. Her degree has gone down slightly w the atropine drops and is back to her specs degree that was prescribed 5 months ago. Very happy.

As her specs is already the progressive type and the degree is correct, Dr says can use sunglasses clip on. Cips ons for kids are really hard to find. Anyone know where to get? I don't mind adult types cut to size so long as they do the job. If really cannot find, Dr says need to spend on transition
I used to see Daiso selling them, perhaps you try to find it there. Quality might not be very good.

I just called an optical shop in City Sq, JB. Trying my luck and hoping that the trend in Malaysia is behind Spore. Struck gold. The shop carries a range of clip ons for plastic and metal frames. The boss is very nice. When he heard that I’m in Spore, he suggested that I email him a picture of dd’s specs and he will advise the chances of his clip ons fitting her specs before I make a trip all the way down. Now keeping fingers and toes crossed that he has a suitable clip on. If so, it only costs RM20. Cheap cheap

That's good news to you. Great to know that atropine works so well on your child. U are so resourceful too, calling JB shops for clip on. Good mama

My boy 5.5yr old, Left400,Right375, astig50, also 2005 child, his myopia believe is genetic plus premature.

Aiyah must save $ for her annual spec budget like you suggested 😄

Update, the JB shop says their clip ons may do the trick so it's off to JB this weekend. I might as well check out their frames when there. Every cent saved will go to her next lens. Anyone knows what is the minimum size I should get for the frame to fit progressive lens? Also do the specs have to be adjusted regularly so that the eye looks at the correct part of the lens? Thinking of making dd's next pair of specs in JB but if need to adjust regularly, then not practical.

I am a little confused. Is progressive the same as myopia control lens?

I bought clip-on from petrol stations. Quite easy to get one. But it is quite inconvenient as the child has to put on before going for PE lessons, then got to take out when indoor. And children will always forget to bring the clip-on for PE lessons. The clip-on can be pushed up when indoor, but it looks so comical the classmates may laugh at him. You also need to check whether the clip-on is coated with uv protection or it is just a normal piece of dark lens. If it is normal dark lens, it actually does more harm than good as the pupils will open up to admit more light, so more uv rays passes thru , right?

If the myopia is controlled by atropine, there is no need to change specs so frequently. My dd changed her spec after 3 years, and that was because the frame became too small for her.
A reliable optican will advise you on the size of the frame. You needn’t worry about this.

Thanks Sall. I haven’t seen clip on for kids at petrol station. Am told by most optical shops I check with that they don’t bring in clip ons anymore cos no market. These are just a temporary measure cos their current specs are the correct degree. The next review is sept. If need to change specs then, will get transition lens.

I have told the jb shop the reason I need to clip ons and he did mention that they have uv protection. I better confirm before going there.

Just curious to know whether the doctor advised the degree for the specs. This is what my dd's doctor did. He wrote down the degree and I just passed them to the optican. So if the atropine drops are effective, then there shouldn't be a need to change specs, right? :?
Reading these posts reminds me of the time when dd first started on atropine. I was also very nervous, anxious, worried, desperate... But I think this is the best option to control the kids' myopia.
