To me, IP school is not just about bypassing the O level; IP school is more for enriched curriculum using the time freed up from O level drills, save some stress and focus more on learning and educating rather than exams drilling. They can prove their ability in the day to day school work.
But the diff is IP schools by-pass 'O' level and have more time for programmes to develop the students rather than spend time drilling them for 'O' level which may be a waste of time to these kids.
I have one child each in IP school and non-IP school. The curriculum is a world apart. -

to add on, the other end of \"scale\" also has students being offered places in Ivy league unis even before they sit for A level......hahaha
From the newspaper reports on Poly students, seems like quite a few also go in from RI or HCI. No problem - they just use their school results to apply after Sec 4. So, their school results are recognised too, even though they don't have O-levels. These are the \"opt-outs\" from the IP system.ngbrdad:
I always have this worry that if a student performs badly at A level in a IP programme, there is nothing to fall back on. Not even an O level. And if a students went thru DSA may not even have a good PSLE score to fall back on.
At least for IB 30% is based on daily work and NUSH is the modular system.
So in situation that an unfortunate event just before A level exam affects a student's result tremendously, what can the student do next ? -

I think I know why DS's school the average for SAI is so low cos they add in social studies and divide by 5.
it does not matter, the DSA school knows how to adjust it -

Publica,
You mean the GAT and interview were held on the same day? My DS had not received any notification yet, n he had above 80% so looks like those who went for GAT need not wait as long as those who scored above 80%. Sigh! -
Hi RSS, r2010 and Paddy Field,
DS applied through sports domain so the process is different from the GEP. He did his interview last Sat. He thinks he did ok but was told that they have overwhelming response for DSA sports this year. Was told to work hard as the teacher mentioned that he could get in through own merit, i.e. PSLE. Looks like the chance is very remote.
