      :imanisland: fellow breastfeeding mummies,

Have been breastfeeding exclusively for the past 2 weeks since I delivered DS2.

I must say it is much better this second time round. Although it was challenging the first week, what with sore nippies and finding suitable positions while feeding, but I am pleased to say that I have gotten the hang of it.

So far DS2 has been like clockwork with regards to feeding and sleeping. He wakes up every 3 hours, feeds and goes back to sleep πŸ˜„ πŸ˜„

Hi all , I am currently breastfeeding my 3 mth old babies (twins), not enough so always have to top up. Recently my milk supply drop drastically , not sure if it’s due to lack of drinking water. Pump half hour only get 50ml ! Help ! How to increase my milk supply ! Try to pump more frequently ubut doesn’t seem to help leh , one day less than 200 ml, my mum say it’s like that after a while . Should I just stop since I am starting work soon !!

                  Hi LeeTaiTai!

Many mums go through periods when they fear for their milk supply. Don't worry, let's see if we can figure out your issue.

Do your twins latch on directly or do you pump exclusively? If you latch on directly, pumping is not a good way of determining milk supply. If you are pumping exclusively, how often do you pump and for how long?

By the way, well done on breastfeeding twins!

Hi MTS , thanks for the encouragement , I pumpout to know how much they drink and every 6 hourly I tried 3-4 hourly , supply is even lower ! Even my maid look at my milk supply say it's so little , ask me to eat spinach but I tried doesn't work much 😞

With my second child, I notice that the milk supply is better. Here's why:

                      1) I massage my breasts, then nippies to stimulate the milk flow, so once I see milk flowing out, then I nurse. I did not do that consistently for DS1. So many a time, he had to work harder to get the milk flow going, would nurse for a short while then sleep, and would nurse frequently. But it became a vicious cycle because it seemed that it was never enough.

                      2) I have a bowl of oats, wheatgerm and honey every morning

                      3) I have been drinking loads and loads of soup

                      4) If all else fails, you can try taking fenugreek pills, which are available from health stores. It is reputed to increase milk supply. It worked for me during DS1's time.

Just sharing my personal observations. Hope this helps πŸ˜„

Me massage too babe, and the milk flow like gonna break a dam kinda speed! :yikes:

I use small cloth wrung after dipped in hot water, the stimulation almost immediate.
There's less soreness too around areola during expression or direct suckling. I used
to have Milo with bread or sandwich. Soupy lunch n dinner for me as well.
                        Same same. :hi5:
