My hubby tries very hard to be the ‘good guy’…but with son going to P6, he has failed miserably.

Kids said they wanted a pet…I told them, "NO animals". Then my mum promised daughter fighting fish. But I brought the fish to mum’s place bcos she agreed to the fish.

That's a good one. Actually the other reason - besides wanting to make ds happy - I relented is that I know it can be quite lonely being the only child sometimes.

My next door neighbour has a dog and I find it very noisy at times. I'm particular about noise and have no desire to add to the disturbance to my neighbours' peace. So I need to get a breed that is small, doesn't need much outdoor exercise and especially impt, doesn't like to bark or at least not loudly.

The only one that I know that meets the above requirement is the japanese chin. Even then, when I think that the maid of the household (hey that's me) needs to handle the dog's waste daily, I become very sian. DS did offered to help out in this thankless task, but since he takes only 3 mins to bath, I concluded that hygiene is not his strongest pt  . I'm afraid he'll end up with food poisoning if he helps out.

But maybe ds won't do so well in P1 then I'll be let off the hook.

Why not take this opportunity to research on the breeds of dog, what type of care they need, etc? Maybe after knowing so many info, your ds raises the white flag in the end and then settle for a virtual pet?

The reason why we hv a 2nd child was also due to this boredom issue of the elder child.
