2009 P1 Registration Exercise for 2010 In-Take

Cinnacraze:
i'm not sure if I get your question correctly, but  if people register their child in the school purely out of convenience and common sense, it doesn't make sense for them to move out of that area before the kid finish PSLE.
since primary education lasts 6 years and we really don't know when is the next time we will be moving house, given the fact that some people really aren't exploiting the 1 km rule to get into popular schools but registered their child in the school purely out of convenience and common sense?
Anyone has any idea?
anyway, so long the move is valid, there is nothing to hide and nothing to worry about.

Ashur:
Have you got a primary caregiver that lives 1km from a good school? Cos if your mom helps you with your child and mom lives 1km away from a good school, you can get a statutory declaration from MOE and apply under that category. Hope that helps.
Pls bear in mind these two points when using this 'strategy' :
1) when using 'foster parents' or sibling address, your priority status will be 1-2km when though the address used is <1km
2) the foster parent (with your parents or in-laws) must have been taking care of your child 'all along'. MOE may not allow you to do the SD if you are planning to let them to take care of your child in future or just started recently. -
Hi,
Does anyone here knows the latest statistics for SJI Jnr? (Phase 2C)
Thanks! -
We have updated the latest Phase 2C data here. Apologies for the delay as I had something on tonight.
Notes:
1. We have included both 1st and 2nd day stats to give an indication of rate of growth across the days… but this may not be entirely indicative since the behavior of registrants can be quite different in the last day.
2. We have noticed a number of withdrawals from parents who got places in earlier Phases, as they withdraw to re-register in the actual schools they want. We expect this trend to continue ESPECIALLY tomorrow afternoon.
3. 62 schools (an increase of 12 from yesterday) have now exceeded their quota. We are expecting another 17 schools to join this list tomorrow.
4. The following schools have actually reduced their APP:
Ai Tong (-15%)
St Anthony’s Primary (-3%)
Henry Park (-24%)
These could be applicants that have been told that they do not have a chance to ballot in Phase 2C for the schools.
5. The top 11 schools with the highest APP are:
St Hilda’s (313%)
Rivervale (278%)
Rulang (262%)
West Grove (254%)
Nan Chiau (247%)
Jurong West (235%)
South View (233%)
Catholic High (222%)
Nan Hua (207%)
Mee Toh (204%)
Radin Mas (203%)
Parents should note that these schools are likely to require balloting within 1km, and there will be more losers than winners since the number of available places are less than half the number of applicants. Parents vying for these schools should seriously consider going for their 2nd choice schools in Phase 2C while vacancies are still available, which may also run out by Phase 2C. -
No prob chief, thanks for e info. Am praying for a miracle...

Noticed that anyone who lives within 1-2km RGPS is also certain of getting in. As of today, only a total 33 (of under 1 km and 1-2 km ) applied for 80 something places. Even 2km also has some more place. Rest of numbers are made up of people above/beyond 2km. So consider RGPS and or what about Marymount Convent
-
reckon there might be balloting for 1-2km

Canvas:
Actually St's Gabriel TUR for the last 3 yrs was 100% and each year required ballot. 2006 ballot for Ph2C >2km, 2007 and 2008 ballot for Ph2C supp >2km. So this school is not really \"so un-popluar\".I enrolled my son in St Gabriel's after being told Rosyth that I did not even have to try since we live between 1-2km away. I found it strange about the low interest even though the facilities of the school seem good. We like that it is single session and has interesting CCAs.
Yangzheng seems popular too but I am just wondering about the school hours; pri 1 & 2 are afternoon session but starts at 11:50am and ends at 6pm, wednesday morning session. I am quite confused about it. Any schools having similar school hours? -

Thanks for the info. Hopefully the school doesn't do balloting for phase 2C this year as we live >2km away. I merely called up Rosyth to see if there was any chance at the last minute but we actually decided on St Gabriel's since we shifted to this area early last year.
Actually choosing a school suitable for the child is more important. I came from a good school but it is too far for my child to travel there. St Gabriel's is chosen based on my son's character and interests. Come 6 years later, for my daughter, we will choose a school suitable for her character as well. -

Yes if u stay within 2km of RGPS, ur place is quite assured. Only that there usually would be a surge of applicants out of 2km to RGPS on the last day every year. So be prepared to ballot.
I believe Marymount would still have places available for 2C(supp). But u may need to ballot too in this phase if u stay out of 2km. Hence if u stay out of 2km of both schools and u want to be assured of a place in either school without balloting, then it may be a better choice to go for Marymount now (2C) instead of waiting till 2C(supp).
