My son really struggles with MT. We have already decided on poly for him, to save agony of 2 more yrs of MT in JC. Unless he miraculously improves in sec school.

I have worked with many poly students and they are quite bright, ambitious and quite focussed on what they want. Many a times they have a strong interest in an area and that drives them.

Actually my son's MT marks always pull down his overall performance, so I am worried abt how it will affect the selection.

He will do his selection test tomorrow. Keeping fingers crossed !
Good luck and all the best to him! :rahrah:

Hi, I have not been able to find the CCAs available at SST from the website. Can someone share what CCAs are available?

The CCAs available are limited mainly due to student population now (400 students - 200 from each level). There is no uniform group as interest level is low and a decent number is required in order to start an uniform group. I understand SST has added a few CCA this year vs last year and will continue to review as the student population increases.

Below list is the CCA available currently:
              Basketball
              Badminton
              Cricket
              Cross-Country
              Floorball
              Soccer
              Wushu
              EL Drama
              Guitar Ensemble
              Media Club
              Robotics
              Fencing
              Singapore Youth Flying Club
              Tae Kwon Do

Fencing and Singapore Youth Flying Club should be interesting! :rahrah:

I personally really like what the school has to offer.

My son had his HAST yesterday. It was a 3 hr long exam - consisting of English, Maths/Science and Abstract Reasoning. They were given a short break after the first paper. He said he found the English and Abstract Reasoning easy, but Maths/Science was a bit tough. Two of his friends found Maths/Science easy but the English difficult. As it is typically - they came out of the exam hall and could not even remember what kind of questions were asked.

Have any other kids attempted the HAST for SST - and how did they find it?

I guess we need to put it behind us now and focus on PSLE revision again. Can’t believe June holidays has flown by 🙂

                    Cheers

My boy took the test on 22 Jun. Commented that Maths/Science and Abstract Reasoning were easy but the English was very difficult. Cross my fingers …

                        Hi everyone,

My son is in SST Sec1 this year. Half a year has passed and he is still very excited about school. I don’t have to bug him to complete his homework or prepare for tests/exams. Their class blog is accessible so I know what work he has to complete and by when. Lessons have been fun for him so far and he’s keeping up his performance level. They’ve just taken part in the i.Code competition (for sec schools) at Nanyang Polytechnic where each participating team has to develop an application for the iPhone based on a given theme and present it to a panel of judges. Although his team didn’t win anything, they did gain in terms of knowledge and experience. As a parent, I am happy for him.
