KTKLN for indo maid?

Hi, recently my maid told me there is a new regulation for all indo maids to have KTKLN card? Im going to renew her WP this end june and she will only go back her home leave during august. This will be her 5th year working with me on this coming WP renewal. Does KTKLN card applies to my maid? She scare she will have problem in custom after her home leave. I did call up my agent to check…she said is the new ruling and asked my maid to attend a talk tml @ indo sch in siglap. I did come across a post that KTKLN card does not apply to renew maid? Pls help as i want to know more just incase my maid kana "stuck" in indo custom. Thank you

hello, I’m a journalist with The Straits Times writing a story about the KTKLN, was looking for employers who were not so sure about the rules… If your maid does not have the card, she won’t be allowed to leave the country. But she can apply for it when she goes back for holiday, or apply for it online.

Same here, my Indo maid is going back in Aug 2011 and I just bought her air-ticket. Am going to the embassy to apply the home leave just saw the article about the KTKLN card.


So far, I can only find some websites saying that the link to apply is this -> http://ktkln.bnp2tki.go.id/

However, its all in Bahasa Indonesian. Can someone confirm that this is the correct site to apply for the card?

Hi, I wrote the story in The Straits Times regarding the changes. I'm told by the Indonesian Embassy that the URL to go to is http://ktkln.bnp2tki.go.id/ but it is only in Bahasa Indonesia. Alternatively, your maid can apply for the card when she is in Indonesia, I'm told it takes less than an hour to process and issue the card and it is free of charge. It can be done at the Jakarta or Surubaya airports, or at any of the 19 designated labour offices across Indonesia. The card lasts for a period of two years. Just make sure you have all the documents ready before applying for the card (i.e passport, insurance paid for, work visa issued, etc).

I went into the website & found that we are required to login. Why would there be a login where it is supposed to be for all maids to apply for the card? Isn’t this a self service portal? I rather get my maid to do it in Indonesia. Hope she dun use this as excuse to come home late or dun come back.

Can they get it done at the embassy in Singapore?

Hi everyone,


Just came back from the Indonesian embassy today. Put my maid’s passport in for home leave processing, then I went up to 2nd floor to ask anout the KTKLN.

They have this handout printed (its in Bahasa Indonesian) but it doesn’t explained much. I printed out the online form from the website earlier to ask for a translation and what to fill in. Some of the data required include the maid’s ID card#, parents and grandfather name and address (I don’t know why they need grandfather name…), maid agency name, employer details, the maid’s monthly salary, home leave visa# (therefore I have to wait till I get back her passport after home leave application if I want to apply online), etc.

The embassy person was kind enough to explain all the fields to me and provided some info.

The joke is that he informs me that even though you apply online, you can only collect it at the offices in Indonesia (the handout gave the addresses of the offices in the various states) AND the maid have to apply for insurance (1yr about 170,000RP; 2yr about 290,000RP). They have not setup the process to apply and issue the card in the embassy overseas.

I asked what is this insurance for as we have already got insurance coverage for the helper when she works for us, even the embassy staff says he doesn’t know what the additional insurance if for and he would also like to know the reason!

Furthermore, he informs me that even some Indo professionals working in SG have trouble applying for the card. Even though they applied online, somehow the e-application had problem or didn’t went through. Therefore, they end up going to the offices in Indonesia to apply again.

In the end, I’ve asked my maid that the 1st thing she does when she’s back home is to go to the nearest office and apply for the card. Going to give her the money for the insurance as well (290,00RP is about SG$42)

Sigh…looks like another layer of paperwork to go through…and don’t even know what’s the justification for this…
