I have given my helpers lots of time off. When I go out with friends, I will sometimes give time-off, from 12 to 4pm.

Having said that, my current Burmese maid is crazy over Banglas and from don't know where, brought back bed mites. She didn't even realise until I found it in her room. From then on, her off days were taken away, as signed on earlier in agency. I just thought she has cousins here, so I let her off to go be with her relatives. But I think she ended up flirting with several many guys.

It is icky when I give them what they want, and I don't get appreciation back.

:shock: I don't even want to think where she got the bed mites from.

the power-that-be is over reacting to the minority of employers who ill-treat the maid


by all means give all the bad press to the guilty employers and punish them without mercy

how many of the 200,000 maid are really ill-treated ? most of the time all these restrictions and penalty and fines have driven employers to fear and desperation and yet got to rely on maids…

can’t the government climb down from their high horses to understand what are the issues at hand ? the maids need to learn to live as a responsible adult first if they wanted to be treated like any other workers with regard to leave and make sure employers have recourse instead of just the receiving end of whatever rules and penalties meted out by MOM.
