      Hello mummies,

I am staying within 1km from Tao Nan and will be registering my daughter under Phase 2C end July, coz didn’t do any volunteer work. Heard of TN going to relocate… any news of when, to where, and how long will they be relocated? Thanks.

      From Joce

There is no official news of relocation yet.

And it is not within the list of schools relocation in 2012 published by MOE yesterday.

        So earliest would be 2013.

          Thanks, Tankee 🙂

May I ask your opinion : Ngee Ann Primary school is 1.1km from my house. If you were me, will you go for TN or Ngee Ann? Considering also I also have 2 boys aged 2.5yrs and 8mths.

          Regards,
          Joce

do you have a third choice that is acceptable to you & your spouse?

very likely that Tao Nan will require balloting in phase 2C for within 1km, and Ngee Ann may require balloting in phase 2C for > 2km.

So, if you & your spouse decided to take your chances and ballot for Tao Nan, be prepared to face a possibility that you would need to register at a third choice school. If you do not have a acceptable third choice, then safer to go for the almost sure bet Ngee Ann.

do monitor the registration situation at both schools closely on the last day of phase 2C and weigh your odds & make your call then.

Ngee Ann is a good school, and definitely less stressful than Tao Nan. I know someone with a child in each school.

                  Hi all,

My son is already in P4. I realised and stumbled upon this forum with TNS parents too late… I have been reading all the past postings and learned some useful information.

I would like to seek your advice on how to help my child improve his results for Primary 4.

My son was posted to one of the lousy classes, probably the last class for Primary 4 in 2011(Class 4B) .

                  1) Despite tuition for Maths Science ( by ex experienced teacher from good school, just left MOE June 2010) and Chinese (by another experienced Chinese Tutor who produced many students with 80% for higher chinese for TNS students) He scored the following results:

                  2) Despite consistent hardwork put into studying ( weekdays 2.20 - 6pm,saturday 9 -12 , 2- 4, 4.30 - 6pm) Sunday ( learnign spelling 2 hrs) with breaks in between)

                  Maths 55/100
                  Science 70/100
                  English 70/100
                  Chinese 80.5/100

                    Dear Mummy

My son is also in Pri 4 at TNS. I truly believe that your son has achieved very credible results. :salute: Not everyone is able to absorb mathematical concepts, I was certainly lost during my own school days. Maybe he is the sort with blessed creative flair and juices instead.....

He is certainly working very hard based on his study periods at home.

My son hardly studies at home other than doing his assignments. :slapshead:

Is it possible for you to mitigate that your expectations? Are they on the high side?? 🤷

                      Hi,

To reply to you question, actually I know my son is not of high ability.
I am thankful for his science and english marks and Chinese as well.
So I would be very thankful if he could score 70 for maths for P4.
I admit I am worried now for his results, but the worse case scenario is when they start P5, I learn from many parents that come p5 many students who do not do very well in ( P3 and P4) may actually fail.
It is quite common so that is the worry…

My son has similar scores except that Chinese is his weakest subject at 56 marks. If computer gaming is an academic subject, he will have the highest distinction possible!!!!

Please do not worry unnecessary in advance as you do not know how well your son will perform in P5/P6!! 😓

Anyway children blossom at different times....one of my friends had straight As during 'O' and 'A' levels but barely graduated from NUS. Numerous friends who were not academically inclined, had to deviate from the academic path, to later become successful enterpreneurs..... :rahrah:
