[quote=\"vlim\"]Hi vk2010,
Did your ds pick up any 3rd lAnguage and if yes what is it? Heard many students drop 3rd Lang after a yr or two right?
The German language is indeed a nice language to pick up.
Vlim, your DS may be right about Latin as well. Spanish language might be the future with the development of South America. Latin and spanish are related and maybe his interest is from the latin name for most of the scientific names. -
My ds also keen in Spanish … He said Latin is the ‘first’ created language so he wants to learn … But say say only now no time for him to learn… Maybe after psle will buy book for him to learn …

May I know what are the 3rd languages offer in RI? Japanese? -
I thot 3rd languages are standard offers from MOE, not by school. The languages offered (from what I know) are Japanese, German, French and Malay.
-
Most will have to go to the language centre near RI to take the 3rd language right ?
Some schools like NUSH have their inhouse 3rd language teachers but NUSH only have French and Japanese, as elective. But must pay $100. -

Aiyoyo... why suddenly so many people asking me about tuition. I think I should change job liao... let me go check if got commission first oki?Otah:
Yesterday, went to help pick up my sec2 nephew from a prominent tuition centre. This is a class cater for IP I guess, since I can identitfy them from their uniform. Did a count , 6-RI, 1-HCI, 1-NYGH, 1-RGS, 1-DHS, 1-?(in home cloth). It seems like RI students need tuition the most. Is it because their courses are tough or they don't really teach (heard from a RI parent). But we are seeing parents rushing for RI every year. Do select school which is most suitable for your kids and not just becos of \"虎父无犬子“ saying or heirtage...
Hi Otah,
Can you please kindly share which tuition centre is this and what subject it is for? My niece in IP is not doing too well and looking for English & Maths tuition (maybe Science too as her Physics also not too good). Can you please advise as I do not have kids in sec sch so do not know where to go. Thanks.

And that Sheldon Tan also has Diploma in both Piano & Violin!!! And he's so cute compared to that top scorer compatriot of his.Blur Dad:
I really admire those top students for PSLE, O-Level and A-Level who appeared in newspaper said that they do not have any tuition at all. With good time management and teachers help they are able to achieve good result and become the top students in Singapore. Some more there was one student last year in RPS, he not only top in PSLE but also able to skip one level. He is real gifted manz!!!

I know of current students in RGS who are active in school CCA as well as outside CCA and do well in academics too. And no, they don't have copious amounts of tuition. I guess these ones are bright and are able to manage their time well.
Interestingly, I have FB friends who are students. A few now doing Medicine in NUS. All previously from RI/RGS/HCI but not from gEP. When in school, they had no tuition, and they had time to do school CCA plus outside CCA. I always did wonder how they do it???!!! My kids nowhere as \"supergirl or superboy\".jtoh:
:yikes: :yikes: Where do they find the time for anything else? -

What is considered very good in your opinion?
Above 3.8 is considered very good? Only in RI, I suppose.Edureach:

Haha! Parents'expectations no choice for them. Want to get scholarships or enter the top courses locally like medicine, dentistry and law. Those with gpa 3.8 and above really good, the rest are just pure hardwork. -
