Hi,folks..some newbie qns here.
as i understand..MBS do not accept PV. i called them up and was refered to Singapore Buddhist Federation (SBF). SBF then informed that they do not take in individual members. Can someone advise what can i do to gain piority (2B) for my son's registration?
Yes, MBS do not accept PV. The school feel that demand is already greater than supply so they don't want to disappoint any parents who put in effort and yet cannot get a place. I applaud them for that especially after seeing how Catholic High behaved. Demand way exceed supply but yet still have PV :? There were talks of a single session previously before moving back to current school however it appeared that the school has issues cutting down the current 330 intakes.
You may want to join us at the MBS parents network thread and see if there are any parents who can help on this specific area.
From my understanding, if you are active members of some temples that are member of SBF, you can gain entry under 2B. However, I am not sure which temples qualify and the process,etc... Do have a friend, they teach buddhist study in their temple and they told me that they are SBF member. -

Maha Bodhi is a really good school. Many parents out there would love to be in your position right now. -

The kids (can only comment for P2 and P3) have 30 mins buddhist lesson every week. It mainly teaches about buddha history, how to be a good person, etc... They have textbooks. Eg. in P1, it's a cartoon illustration about Buddha being a prince from India, etc... as they progress it is more on moral values.

But yes... no one is forced to convert. MBS was my primary school and there are alot of my classmates who are non-buddhist too.
On the other hand, don't expect it to be very buddhist driven in every single thing since the teachers population also consists of people from other religions. I view it as a school that just have buddhist study as an extra that's all. But it's definitely not hard core type. -
