hi wormy, sall n KL28, surprised to hear that some of you cried whenever the degree shoot up. Same here. I cried in the clinic and few days at home or as and when i think about it. Why i say surprise bec my family, including my husband think i have been taking it too hard. To me, myopia is not an issue. The problem is they are too young to be myopic. It’s not their fault. Most of the children here start reading habit at a very young age. My girl don’t really watch a lot of tv and no bad reading posture. Bad genes and our lifestyle are the main causes i reckon.

Yes, it is the fact that they are so young. I did some calculations and I was really upset that if the degree cannot be controlled, it can go up to 800 or 900 at 12 years old.
If dd only starts wearing specs at 11 or 12 yr old, I won't feel so upset.
Barney8, has your child started on atropine? -
agreed, they are too young, have not go primary and secondary.

hi sall, not yet. we are monitoring one last time. because this time (2nd time) increased alot but better than 1st time (it was rocketed). Hopefully, each time it gets better. Although i know is a fact that they are growing at this period so the eyeball too.

Hi,
My kids are coming to 4 and they have been reading since 2+. I am also quite worried about their eyesight although they hardly watch tv.
I guess reading a lot is still ok as long as the lighting is good and they dun read lying down right? Or do we really need to limit their reading time? Not forgetting about doing work time?? -

I was told that kids should take breaks from any near sight work after 30-45mins, that includes reading. -

Make sure they don't hold the books too near to their eyes, take regular breaks. I think books are ok, the worst activity is computer games.Hi,

There is a report recently in the papers that Australian kids have better eyesight cos they are out in the sun more frequently than Singaporean kids. Maybe we shld let our kids spend more time outdoors?
