What is the different between Chiropractic and physiotherapy?
Hi bigsnoopy!!
oops! Myself think these both are the same
\"\"Chiropractic & Physio\"\".
Oh Please, If am wrong. Please someone correct me then.
Well, my boy went to Physiotherapy for a few session.
The therapy was gv out the treatment as the same as Chiropractic too.
Both need to lie down on the bed. And theraplist will being massage.
Unfortunately, Physiotherapy was told that to put on braces to order helps straighten the spine.
And Chiropratic did not mentioned any about brace for the moment of time. My primary 2 boy are having Chiropratic Session. 3 days in a week.
Lastly, both of them just a few min. spend for the massage. LOL
Both are so costly:D -

I think Physio uses more equipments/ tools to help in management of the condition as compare to Chiropractic.
Chiro focuses on using \"adjustments\" ie hands of the chiropractor. I think that's why will need to go more often as the spine tends to \"adjust\" itself back till it gets more acustomed to the new position, then the frequecy of visit can be reduced. Thats all I know
Janice_0950, hope your child is getting better! -

thanks for you concern!!
Yes. No tools and equipement requires. So why may need to go for adjustment daily.:(
Especially, school re-opened more tough for my kid. Need to running up and down for after school.

Thanks all for the clarification. Which one is better?
@Janice_0950 Did the therapist show you any exercise to help? -

Whilst some physical manipulation aspects of Chiro and Physiotherapy are similar, the scientific and medical basis are very very different.
In a nutshell, I am comfortable with some of the physical therapy aspects of what my chiro does for me, but he does not push on other aspects, which in my opinion, after researching into what goes into Chiro, borders on quackery. -

It really depends what you are looking for, and the skill of the practitioner. Important thing is to get a proper diagnosis of the underlying problem, and for that I'd suggest you consult with a western medical doctor to begin with. Thanks all for the clarification. Which one is better?

I don't remember what's my experience back then as far as I remember it takes 3 months to take effect. And I suggest to treat what's the pain in yourself.
If you want special treatment I have a clinic that's suitable to your needs:http://www.redondofc.com/ will give you no worries.Anyway good day to you all and good luck! -
I have heard of CSG at Tampines Building before. Apparently one of the doctors there are good with children.

HiHI all
Sorry, did not provides details.
Chiropractic is for my 7+ boy in Primary 2 now. He recently fell down bakwards and we went for x-ray. Last discovered Mild Scoliosis in left.
We went for physio for a few times treatment was told 15degree curved. And would possible to put on the braces for next 7 years. OMG!!!!
Am totally speechless. We did not and never tot abt this and that extend so serious:( :?: :imdrowning: :?
However, we went for another treatment which this Chiropractic. So wonder how good it is? Posture are really vy impt!!! sigh! How can we stop our children to sit & stand in correct posture. Keep nagggggggg non stop! am gg to be a non stop recorder soon:(
Well, either for BRACES or CHIROPRACTIC are both costly. But there are different in Chiropractic not as suffer. I knew sm of pple while wore the braces and felt very uncomfortable and yet vomitted too. :faint:
sigh!!
thanks you all........:D
Did you seek for 2nd opinion? Usually they will only recommend the child to wear brace when the degree exceeds 25. I thought 15 degree is still mild, should monitor.
Just to share.. my girl's was 27 degree @ 11yo. At this stage of growth, her degree is likely to increase so she has to put on a brace to control the degree to getting worse.
I have also consulted chiropractor. However after consultation, I dont think it was the best option for my dd.. as mentioned, at 11, she has at least 2-3 years to grow taller, means my chiropractic treatment has to be for the next 2-3 years. It's too time consuming to go 2-3x a week for treatment, hectic for both myself & dd esp she will be P6 next year.. it will be very stressful for both of us..
I decided to go for the soft brace instead @ KK. I was glad I made the right choice. Altho it was tough @ the initial period, dd has adapted of wearing the brace
and she was very 'motivated' by the results after she put on the brace.. her degree improved from 27 degrees to 11 degree!
her review is every 3mths to check on her brace and do adjustments where necessary..
the good thing of the soft brace is it's not obvious under her normal wear... and she can still do her normal exercise and PE lessons where the hard brace really restrict the movements on the child.
At 7, your son still has a long way for growth esp boys growth only spurt during sec school days.. -
Yes. my boy was in CSG now…
which located Tampines CPF building.
However, the progress are super slow. in fact, we as parents really must be patience. Lastly after few 2 months+ was told that my boy does improved on his back sniff but not scoliosis. Scoliosis treatment may need long long time. sob sob sob…
