you may like to visit http://www.elite.com.sg and search for St Marg's to see what falls under 1km and 2km. Since you are staying in Towner, wouldn't HW be a better choice?

It's nearer, you do not have to worry about transport and distance. Your child can spend her time on things other than transport and won't be so tired.

well, by the time they are in sec schools, somehow distance don’t come into play (dun talk about JC/poly). Figure it’s cos they are still small in pri school, take public transport a bit difficult.

Someone told me that all pri schools are the same, it’s the popularity that differs. I quite beg to differ but then this person has school going kids, so I assume there may be some truth to the matter.

Note: even HW has balloting in Phase 2C within 1KM. If you are interested to pursue this school, then you may want to consider PV work (assuming you are not affiliated by clan/RC).

oh! then for sure can get in - under Phase 2A. If your hubby joins alumni, it’s 2A1, else it’s 2A2. whatever the case, there should be no problems.

St.Margaret Primary is affiliated to St.Mar Secondary. If you are from the primary school you can get into St.Mar Secondary at a lower PSLE cut off point for express stream. This is one advantage of being \"affiliated\". For example, if your child is not \"affiliated\" and score 230 in PSLE (which is above national average), I am afraid she will be sort of \"stuck\" if you want her to get into a reasonably good sec school. This is because as an \"outsider\", to get into St.Margaret, you need a minimum score of about 240 thereabout (similar to Crescent Girls Schools i think).Go to MOE website to search for entry criteria of secondary schools to get an idea.

I visited http://www.elite.com.sg too and found that my place is on the 2km line from Hong Wen. But when I called the school they said my place is >2km from school. So I guess for borderline cases it's still better to call the school to confirm ...

BTW, can someone please enlighten me on the breakdown of phase 2C at RVPS? Not year of the dragon cohort (2006) also have to ballot at 1-2km.

MOE website quotes 102 app fighting for 92 places. Anyone knows how many of these 102 stays <1km?

Only the school itself would have the breakdown like 1Km, 1-2Km & more than 2Km. MOE website only indicate the total applicants in a particular phase.

Think for RVPS is 37 (1Km), 59 in (1-2Km) therefore remaining 55 places would be fight by 59 parents.
