My guess - parent wants her to get into the \"top school\" - RGS, citing the reason that maybe can get easier route of the secondary school.

        Just my own thought.... πŸ˜‰

maybe her parents feel that her daughter got the making of the RGSS girl - ie. very achievement goal oriented type, very disciplined, self motivated, can do well academically type, thus her chance of entering RGSS is high. maybe her parents prefer her daughter to mix more with RGPS students now to influence her, so transfer over.

another reason could be religion … maybe her parents Christians but not Catholic, prefer to enter non Catholic Secondary school.

third reason could be CCA related … RGPS has Rythmic gym (RG), CHIJ dun have. Her mom might want to groom her girl for RG, ready to take part in YOG olympics, to represent SG in 2014 ? And later use RG as a DSA stepping stone to enter RGSS ? there must be something unique about RGPS that her parents badly want, but not found in CHIJ family.

there is no easier route to enter RGSS. No affliation at all. In fact, it is a very tough, very competitive. Not easy to enter a top Secondary school in SG.

do you know - how competitive RGSS girls are ?

many years back in 1980s - my classmate was top in cohort, amongst all the Sec 4 students, in GCE O level. There was this girl who came in as Number 2.

she’s not contented. In fact, she was very unhappy that she came in as number 2 of the entire school, not number 1. Guess what she said to my classmate ? She tapped my classmate on her shoulder, and told her boldy in a very loud voice that many people can hear, "You number 1 today, you top the whole school, right ? Never mind, one fine day, i am going to beat you!". Her loud remarks shocked all of us who are standing there, collecting our O level cert.

today, my friend became a medical surgeon. This number 2 girl became the top CEO of a corporate giant, in a very reknown industry. Many people have heard of her name.

i think the parants already knew about this...

the point is at the end of 6yrs every child is taking the same paper, if the child is really good he/she can get into the top sec sch with the good results... if not they still have a safety net to fall back with the affliation... or maybe is really δΈζ˜―ηŒ›ιΎ™δΈθΏ‡ζ±Ÿ...... :salute:

as P6 is coming closer each year i know how much more comfortable i will be if dd is in a affliation sch.... at least not so stressful .....

actually my 1st choice was a affliation pri sch for my dd but found out that it was so hard to get after trying a few schools....

ANY Chinese book that he is willing to try....

Got him the 'da mu zi' (big thumb) newspaper weekly. He seems to like reading them.

Currently reading Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets (found in a book fair in JB). Couldn't find other books of the series.
