For me, never like to follow agency unless really necessary.

Korea can go on own (MRT very easy) if you stay in a convenient lodging.

If you want a local guide, i can recommend. This one price reasonable and speak reasonably mandarin.

Go Korea on ourself!!!! But I am afraid of language problem leh. Taking their MRT, how does we identify each individual station???

Would be very appriciate, if you could recommend a local guide. By the way, how is the charges like huh?

I was in Korea briefly in 2005, so I may remember wrongly but there are English signages around.

In Seoul, you may like to purchase a day-tour bus ticket - this bus travels around major attractions in Seoul and you can hop on/off for the whole day.

If you’re on your own, you can go to the tourism bureau’s stand (usually available at airport) to pickup maps, tour information and plan your itinerary.

My experience with Korea is that they don’t really speak English. But there should not be too much problems really.

              Hi bee8250

Yes, i am thinking of going in Dec…my DD could only go during sch holidays. Dec should be winter and it’s will be a different experience for her. My friend tried ASA last Dec and said it’s good.

Hi, we went with CTC last year. Lodging all very good and food provided also not bad. Tour guide is a Korean, he speaks good Mandarin but funny English.

.....I will be going this mid Sep to catch their end of summer sale. SEOUL I come again!

PS: If you going on own, maybe I can dig my diary and give you a cheap and good korean suana place to go (kids also can go and all my kids enjoyed that few hours there). I will be re-visiting that place again this Sep. Also must see the Nanta which all of us enjoy too (http://www.nanta.co.kr/en/nanta/intro_synopsis.asp). I also will be watching it one more time this coming trip.
Seoul, the last time I went was in the 90s, with tour group.

I'm also thinking of going this mid to end Sep, with DH and almost 2YO DS (last chance for infant air-fare)

Is Korea a good place to drive around (outside city of course) ? Do you mind share what are the nice nature spots to see?

It'll be nice if you can dig more out of your diary to recommend a few other must visit places. TIA! 😄

p/s the sauna place's like 'Onsen/ Hot Spring' thingy?

Did you go in Dec? Was it snowing?[/quote]Went in end Nov, we were very lucky to see real snow according to tour guide. Normally will only see fake snow in ski resorts in Nov - mid Dec. But snow fell on the 2nd day morning when we were at the ski resort. It was very beautiful!

Another option would be, to visit http://www.tripadvisor.com. You could find all your information of any countries in this forum. I personnally have benefited from this forum and have saved $$$$$$$$$ from DIY my own internary. I have never used a local travel agent to travel before, only to compare cost with my own iternary.

At times I have saved about close to thousand dollars by doing it myself, then going through a local travel agents.
