      Hi chief and all

Thanks for setting up this specific forum for KCPPS parents to network. I have registered my boy under phase 2c and many thanks to tulip for providing heads up of what we should expect next year.

      Cheers
Congrats Winniepooh! I'm very happy for you.

        Tulip:
I am not sure about the bible reading, didn't ask my gal, but she was just \"complaining\" to me last nite, that she has to bow her head to pray, as her form teacher will check to make sure that everyone does, but my gal is not comfortable with it because as she claimed : \"I am a Buddhist mah, why do you send me to a Christian school!?\" :

Re: the homework, its true too. She has homework almost everyday.

By the way, the school starts streaming from end of P1, not P2 where is the practice of most schools. They will be streamed into the 2 best classes and the rest will be of mixed abilities. And after SA1, students with higher ability in Chinese will be streamed to \"深广班\" which they termed enrichment module, but it is not higher Chinese. So if you are \"very on\" type of parent, P1 also cannot relax ah... Also, the weekly spelling and tingxie constitute 10% of the SA1 and SA2 marks (best of five spelling and tingxie), so pretty stressful, every term got to make sure she gets full marks for at least 5 of her spelling and tingxie.
        Hi Tulip
Thanks for your feedback :udawoman: , I'll let my wife know about the streaming and the homework since she's in charge.
That's stressful when they start streaming to some chinese classes after P1 and I can only remember last time I had my first caning in school for failing my Maths Test in P4...
Think spelling not too much of an issue for my son cos he's doing some courses with British Council but not Chinese loh, he can't even write his own name...

            Hi to all Parents,

Thanks for the wonderful support group forum!

My son will be attending KCPPS next year…
Had no idea there is streaming as i thought streaming is done when P4…
Seems like i am really backward on this…

Hopefully the "orientation" by KCPPS in November will be informative…

Good to be in here…! 😃

              Hi Yusim

Seems a bit far from KCPPS from where you stay, are you 1 of the ex-student from KCPS?

                Hi:

We are church member. We like the school culture very much.

I went to see the school and love the hall outside the office very much. So beautiful!

                  Hi Yusim

I must say that the school is very nice and hope my son will be happy there too. 😄 Though I'm not Christian but the number of years there I got to understand more of the religion.

                      Hi there,

Happy to share, as always :D.

The school will be mailing out to you a letter to brief you on the orientation and also the book list. You could choose to purchase books online or from the school and choose a collection date. If I remember correctly, there were no purchase of books on orientation day though, only PE attire. If you are kiasu like me, by Sep, I had already purchased her uniforms from the vendor in Toa Payoh, to avoid to last minute rush lah, and also scared out of stock. But PE attire can only be purchased from the school book shop. The letter I mentioned earlier will also state the \"house\" your child will be in, so you won't know until closer to orientation day. For myself, I've even ordered the name tag early as the school is close by, I just drop in one day and fill up the form for the order, took about 2 to 3 weeks to do. (note: if you also want to order early like me, remember to let the lady know that its for P1 next year as they used different colors for the different levels). The only \"advantage\" for me is that by first day of school, my daughter already has the name tag on her uniforms whilst her classmates has to wait a few weeks as they had only ordered during orientation day.

Now, on the school orientation. No worries, there are no tests etc. for the kids. The kids were asked to assemble at the concourse, in accordance to their respective classes (again this is made known in the letter). The kids will be shown to their respective classrooms and also shown around the school on its various facilities and rooms in the school like the toilets, library, AV room, dental clinic, sick bay, etc.

As for the parents, we were guided to the school hall, where the Principal will address all parents. We were briefed a little on the school, its achievement, etc. Then we were asked to proceed to a classroom to fill up the various forms, giro forms, enrichment forms, etc.

After which we were told to return to the school hall to meet our kids. That's about it, all in all, just 2 or 3 hours only.

Hope the above address your questions on the school orientation. Please feel free to check again if you have any other queries.

                      Cheers...
