Hi Lovingmummy216,

Great to hear that both your kids are benefitting from Joanne choo's class! Sounds interesting and fun 😄

Is this class only for creative writing? Or does she include english grammer etc in it?

I am really tempted to make my daughter join the class too. Have to confirm if hubby can squeeze sending and fetching her in his weekend schedule.

I myself learning to drive on weekends..so bit hectic for me..
            🤷

All the best to your son for this forthcoming PSLE exam. He must be tense and working very hard.

How are you managing with two kids at this stage?

my children like the way she teaches grammar. she has a way of getting them to remember. the children remember grammar better with her jokes. the older one is in the P6 comprehension paper 2 class. he actually applies Mrs Choo's comprehension skills to chinese as well and has been scoring better for chinese! he likes her lessons 'cause he doesn't have to do homework. yet he still improves.

as for the younger boy, not only has his composition improved, but he is able to fill in the answers of the cloze passage better. i guess it has to be the foundation that she is building the children upon.

              Hi

Saw some gd comments about her el tuition esp on compo writing. However, when I called her for enquiry, she didn’t sound friendly and helpful. In fact, she sounded cold and gave me monosyllabal answer for every question I asked. I hung up after speaking to her in less than 5 min. Just wonder if she is a patient and approachable teacher. Does anybody who know her and whose kids have done well esp for PSLE enlighten me on her effectiveness and style of teaching? Is her compo class more suitable for weaker or high ability kid? Are her materials and worksheets gd and pegged at higher level compared to school?

my children feel so free to talk to her. she is very approachable to me. my mother-in-law took the children to the centre the other day, she even held her hand and led her to the pavilion that is just outside her centre. my mother-in-law speaks well of her and says she has love for old folks and children.

my friend told me her son was in the same class with two very weak malay students who failed all their subjects. at the end of the year, the malay twins scored B each for English but all the other subjects remained at U grade. in the same class, she produced five top students from henry park. that's why we were saying that it was marvelous how the best and the worst in the same class produced good results. for me, i'm only concerned about results. i dare not question the teacher as my friend told me to leave the job to her. the children are in good hands. after all, i can't teach them myself. my friend's nieces and nephews are all from Joanne Choo Language Centre. now, they are in hwa chong, raffles girls .. most of them are learning from p1 to sec4. my friend is actually an english teacher in school and yet she sends them there. there are also many other english teachers who also send nieces and nephews and their own children to the centre.

                    Hi Mummies,

From KiasuParents.com, parents benefit alot esp when it comes to sharing tips and feedback on the enrichment classes. A few home-based or sole proprietor tutors are recommended by word of mouth. Do you all verify the qualifications and achievements posted on the websites of the home-based or sole proprietor tutors? Is there a way to do it such that it is not offensive to the tutors?

My neighbour had sent her eldest son to Joanne Choo Language Centre from Yio Chu Kang. He did very well. As for the youngest three children, she attempted to send them elsewhere as she complained that Joanne Choo is too far away. However, her children hardly improved after all the years and the husband complained and reminded her that the eldest son had improved at Joanne Choo's centre. After his suggestion, she sent them to the centre. The husband was so pleased as only after six months he could see the remarkable results in all the three children! Taking their recommendation, I also sent my child and I can see he is progressing after attending the crash course paper one and paper two during the June holidays. His prelim results show improvement, especially in his comprehension, synthesis, composition and oral! The result scale has gone up.

Her website is: http://www.joannechoo.sg. Her student's testimonials are worth reading!

                        Hi,

I’ve checked Joanne Choo’s webpage and saw that for P1 - P4, she is teaching only Paper 1. Does she teach some aspects of Paper 2 in her class for these levels?
