      Hi ycpang,

If that being the case, do you know the success rate for DSA2 taking place on 23 July which is open to all other P6 students since most places will be awarded to DSA1.
      Thanks.

I don't know. But we can do some calculation. The total cohort at HCI each year is 450. Assuming 50% is catered for appliants through PSLE results ( 225), Minus 100 students of 3 to 4 classes of ispark which consist of GERers and SMOPS winners, minus again another 40 for sports, that left 85 slots for DSA2. I am sure HCI will offer (CO + WL) more than 85 eg. 150 for DSA2 since not everyone will take up the offer at the end of day. This is only my own assumption.

      :thankyou:[/quote]
iSpark for 2011 Year 1 has only around 80 - 90 students, including those PSLE high scorers admitted via S1 posting

in any case, DSA admission is not a matter of supply versus demand. It does not mean that chances are higher if less people applying. Simply put, the students must meet the criteria set by the school before they can be considered. if not enough students meet the DSA entry criteria, the vacancies will be brought forward to S1 posting.

it is only at S1 posting that the vacancies are subject to supply and demand

The final outcome will only be next year, cos there are sure to be changes and appeals after PSLE results out…

Heheee.. Tt is secondary .... Most important is to get the co first.
I think most of the interviews qns asked are not todifficult to answer and some r referring to what the kids have experience like oversea trip or leadship role and so forth.... So wonder will the interview really deter their selection or not ...

Regular feature? :scratchhead: Now, now, I remember being :spank: for even suggesting that  πŸ˜“

Anyway, as I said before and will say again, as parents, we should support any changes that is purely for the good and benefit of the kid! πŸ˜‰

'regular feature' because the school admin said so, and they have a set procedures coordinating among the various schools on who should start the ball rolling with the appeal cases. The principal said they will act quickly on the appeal cases so that the students can have their earlier choices released to others who are appealing to get it there. It has to start trickling down from the top schools........

it is standard condition on the DSA exercise form that the choices are final, and yet the schools still want to entertain appeal cases - in order to attract those with higher scores - then who is to say no ? lo and behold, the schools are practicing it and anticipating it and facilitating it.......it is hard to refuse

since the principals are helping each other in the appeal cases, no one is deprived

For the borderline ones, especially GEPpers who scored <80% and who had to take GAT, the interview is definitely more important.

A couple of years ago, my friend's dd went for her DSA interview with 2 others. All three were GEPpers but had to sit for GAT bec their results were <80%. During the interview, it was clear who performed better. And not surprisingly, only that girl of the 3 got a CO.
