for schools in BK as they are not known as neighbourhood schools…more like schools in town area, unlikely majority will come from the neighbourhood.

hmm, so they do choose ppl with a certain status…but just 1parent or both have to be of certain title~~?

nowadays, they r vvv realistic huh? usually only the within 1km can get in for RGPS/ NPS…so meaning to say only the rich can get in lor??coz all landed/ private homes mah…

i don't think schools like NYP/RGPS apply different rules from any other schools.

all schools evaluate parents based on value they can offer to the school...and influence and network may be one value school needs to get some things done, hence they may select parents of influential background for PV n I believe all schools do that regardless they are in east, west, north or central zone. btw, i am not influential hor....

all schools have to follow the 1km ruling n this is town area so inevitably the wealthier people stays there..what can we say other than move there? btw, i don't live there hor....

so there is nothing realistic in terms of their \"special\" critiera if you think there is. what is real is that ALL schools welcome influential parents and the 1km is moe guidelines for admission.

              Hi

Sorry. Has things change? I was being interviewed by the principal & she ask me why I want to apply in RGPS. Her main concern is mainly will I be able to do PVG since I’m working. I can confirm even a technician has sent their daughter in that school. But at that time, they are able to secure a place at phase 2C.

By the way, MGS, Henry Park, SCGS & Nanyang are all good schools. I tried applying PVG for Henry Park, but it was already full. On the day of registration of Phase 2B, balloting was needed. MGS is a missionary school, Nanyang is another hot favourite among parents. SCGS will be too far away for me. I choose RGPS as there is a direct SBS bus that my daughter can take to go home.

Hi EN - I'm considering RGPS for my dd too. Just want to know what kind of PV work should I be expecting to do should I submit my application.
                Thanks.

wow...a technican staying near RGPS? must be quite well to do too considering RGPS is popular n usually balloting has to be done for abv 1-2km...the hses near there r nt v cheap...hehehe

went to check the map - within 1km or 2km radius houses r nt v cheap...hmm...if really poor, sure cannot afford...so ppl staying there usually not v poor...

when it comes to PV, their criteria is nt officially known to public. so they can choose who to take in as PV, unless i missed out reading the criteria~~but of coz, who would reject a parent who is influential enough to bring some fame to the school, right?

deardear07, I did the same thing to see what properties fell within the 1-2km range and then went to those property portals to check out the prices ....very hard for regular folks to afford, unless we consider a 1-2 bdroom unit that is way smaller than my current HDB 😞

                        Hi deardear07

The technician is my ex-secondary school mate husband. Their 2nd kids completed PSLE last year. Did I mention they stay within 2 km? Dont think so. Their kids wake up at 5 am & take sch bus which later they change to take public transport.

                        Hi Scoobydoo

Here are the list of volunteer works that I have done or was posted to the PVGs which I can think of.

Reading buddies, librarian, traffic control, library painting, re-modelling heritage board, culture/sports day/consert help out, teacher helper for excursions, swimming class etc, creative work for Wed teachers meeting for P1&P2, tabulating data from school survey etc.
