But it worked on my mil, she has old-age asthma and tend to cough a lot at times, after taking one bowl, she stopped coughing at night. But I think it's all in your mind, if you think the herb is good for you, your brain will tell your body to heal. Haha πŸ˜„

That is fantastic! I have been wondering if the cultivated cordyceps which only cost like 20% or even 10% of the wild cordyceps works equally well. I have read some sources that they have done experiments and claim that the cultivated type works equally well as the wild one. If you don't mind, buy some of these cultivated cordyceps, in capsules one also have, you can find in Guardian pharmacy, and let you mil try them. If she stops coughing, please come back and tell me.

But I just wonder if the effects of the powdered form same as those u cook to extract the essence? There must be a reason why the Chinese herbs need to be boiled since ancient days. Any experts?

You can't keep most chinese herbs for too long...their medicinal effect reduces over time. That is why herbal shops launch regular discount sales...that is to clear their old stocks.

The chinese herbs are boil in a special ceramic.....you know that one...traditional one...it is because if you use metallic pot, the temperature of the pot will be so high that some of the medicinal effect of the herbs will be damage. that is why they need to use ceramic. As for powder, who say that the traditional chinese medicine don't use powder form? remember those Kungfu shows, they have medicine called \"san\"...this xx san and that yy san either to poison someone or to release someone from poison. Powder form chinese medicine has a long history. Another way to extract the medicinal effect is by soaking it in alcohol because some content in the herbs can only be extracted with alcohol (eg deer anthler)

                Wow! V informative n ciam leh ... πŸ˜“

But then cordyceps in powder form never go thru the heating process can also achieve the same potency arh? If that's so, powder form is so much more convenient. The HH lady once told me cordyceps + ginseng grind to powder, no need to put into capsule, juz use th tiny spoon they provide, put one heap spoonful w a little warm water to consume. Hv'nt tried but sounds good, easy n fuss-free. πŸ˜„

The best way to take cordyceps is double boil it. But however due to the high price now, I usually recommend my customers if they want to take 1 tael (37.5g), then better to grind into powder and then put into capsules then eat, since most pp don't eat the cordyceps after double boil. In fact, when double boil cordyceps, it is best not to wash it, just don't drink the bottom of the soup. I have met customer who told me, she washed until the cordyceps is not dark anymore. :faint: I told her, of course, no use, all the nutrients are washed away already.

The flower is actually the man-cultivated cordyceps, usually we called yong chongcao, not chongcao hua. However, can't blame most pp, even after 'scolding' my staffs, they still call it chongcao hua. Give up! Giving wrong info to the customers. Actually quite sad, all these staffs don't want to pass the correct information to the customers and make pp think that TCM is no good or fake stuff. 🀷

Actually if want to eat cordyceps to build up one's health, can consider getting those ready-made cordyceps capsules, since it is more affordable, easy to consume and also since can eat daily, definitely can build up one's health. In fact, I give my kids these for a period of time when they were a bit weak. Must say, for the man-cultivated cordyceps, if boil for soup and drink daily, will help to build up one's health too.

To say the truth, for such herbs, even for the most reputable tong ren tang or EYS, they still get their herbs from local supplier or china/hong kong supplier. If the supplier wants to give them fake stuff, they might not know too. I once heard that one of local cordyceps supplier also got trick before, in the stock he take from china, got mix too. I have seen the stock before and I know it. But the mix is unless you really know how to differentiate, if not, most pp can't tell at all. It is also fungi infected by worm. But the real cordyceps must be that particular fungi being infected by 1 particular worm. So of course, the price is steep now, since not easy to have such perfect match.

To me, someone from the medical hall, if given a chance, it is better to buy from EYS then HH. So for my friends who find it hard to buy from my shop, I will tell them to buy from EYS and not HH, not only cordyceps, also ginseng, bird nest etc. Have seen the type of herbs HH sell, if want to buy from HH, it is not much different to buy from other medical hall. If you go to a good medical hall, you might want much better quality stuff then HH.

Hi gohstan, I think there is not much difference in pricing bet eys and tong ren tang. But given eys being a listed company, there might be a higher chance that it is more ex.

Most cordyceps should be from either qinghai or tibet. Since I am the one who answer questions, personally I don't know what questions to ask. Most of my customer just ask me about the brand, where it is from and can be cheaper or not.

I think now the prices is much higher again as the price just soar much higher recently (about 2 wks ago).
