Actually, for the kids’ own good, they should ensure they have a decent Chinese standard with the future being China becoming a strong power in world economy. Singapore’s Chinese standard is not high (compared with China, Taiwan, HK, Malaysia, etc.) With China nationals picking up English quickly, our bilingualism advantage will be gone in no time if we do not maintain. Even the Westerners are looking towards the East. That’s even more reason for us to engage our kids in improving their Chinese.

I’m putting in much more effort to help my kids in Chinese thru’ songs, TV, story books etc. Hope it works in long term.

[quote=\"jtoh\"]True. It's always easier on hindsight. Next year you'll be able to laugh about and tell other parents about your experience too.

DS has just received sch prelims notice. Prelim starts end July - early Aug with oral, listening compre and paper 1. Then break for national day and PSLE Oral. All paper 2 at end Aug. 😓 :faint:

If her score can be improved 10 - 15% than SA1 then I am sure we can :imcool: .

However, now what we see and feel are just the performance in their own school (swimming pool) unlike PSLE all have to swim together in a big sea lah!

                  Still cannot 掉以轻心!

Yes, oral is end of this month and early August! Prelim immediately after PSLE Oral. 😓

Now they are busy preparing the oral draft on those picture discussion and there are also EL oral and CL oral remedial going on for selected students.

Agree, I tell ds if he is able to improve by 10% in prelims, it helps to boost his morale. Then increase another 10% bar for PSLE, so as to safeguard on the safe haven side.
