This whole registration exercise shows that the Govt had let in too much PR and Foreigner in the past. Given the lower birthrate by Singaporean, this should be lower or relatively stable, but no, we are seeing a crunch in always every school!!

The rule about giving Singaporean priority in balloting only kicks in in the last 2 years, so PR and foreigner whose kids are already in the school will not be affected. In fact, they are able to register their kid in Phase 1.
My hubby has just told me the exact thing that you have written last evening. And he asked if this is fair to Singaporeans that there is no differentiation between Singaporeans and PR at phase 1. Oh well, kind of difficult to judge what is fair and unfair.

i believe in time to come, after phase 1, the no. of vacancies left will be split equally among phase 2a, 2b and 2c.

the rate at foreigners converting into PRs is alarming! At Phase 1, now we can’t distinguish between who are the true blue Singaporeans born and bred here, vs. those PRs.

we must do something about this… Yes! , make a clear distinguish between fellow Singaporeans vs. those who are not.

if not, going forward 30 yrs from now - when come to our grandchildren generation, with influx of foreigners coming in so rapidly and getting converted into PRs so fast, even P2A will fast problem. Because by then, these PR grandchildren will be ahead of us - since they go under Phase 1 ranking.

the way i see it … 30 yrs from now, won’t be any Phase 2A1 nor Phase 2A2. It’s either Phase 1 or Phase 2A. Phase 2A1 & Phase 2A2 - will just be combined together, intoa common Phase 2A. No more phase 2B nor 2C, because the rate of foreigners coming into SG, converting into PRs is really alarming!

just look at NTU university … you see so many China students come here to SG get PRs so easily, all over entire campus.

Looking at the stats, i think I can forget about MGS right? There are about 70 places left for 2B n 2C! And I am within 1-2km! Looks hopeless or is there still any hope? Mommies, what do you think?

I think I may have to go with plan B of applying for CHIJ OLQP but I am out of 2km…hmmmm…will I have a chance? Stress, sress, stress!

Not trying to pour cold water, but based on last year's statistics, MGS will only ballot for within 1km. Need to consider plan B. Depending on whether you are under P2B or P2C, you may want to consider other girl's school such as St Margaret, Marymount, etc.

It's terrible when they have to turn PVs away. Usually schools try to limit the number of PVs so that they're able to take in all.

I just feel the current system is to confusing. Too many phases. Just look at siblings currently studying there and the rest shd be by distance.

As for foreigners and PRs, frankly, since the govt already tightened inflow, we hv to move on. Ultimately, these kids and families will contribute to singapore as well so they deserve a gd education like our kids.

Yes and I strongly believe that for those schools who are popular during registration eg. demand way exceeds supply, they should stop accepting PVs especially when they have other source of 2B eg. clan, religious group, etc....

I am glad my kids' school don't accept PVs for that reason. Why give other parents' false hope and then at the same time require people to put in the time and effort to complete their PV when you can't even give them a place in the end????
