btw, the queue for kids born in 2010 had already started … long queue formed already ! looks like MLC is similar to Nanyang kindergarten … where queueing is concerned.

                hi jh_mumloveu,

Great! good for you! happy to learn that your child got in!
I like MLC. In the afternoon, teach pupils Montessori Maths, a built in programme in their curriculum.

kids start compo writing at K1.
first, pupils learnt to match 5 pictures to 5 short phrases first, in the correct sequence. Left hand side 5 pictures, Right hand side 5 short sentences / phrases.

by looking at the 5 pictures, pupils need to ask themselves - which sequence of event ought to come first, which 2nd picture should come next, 3rd pic, 4th pic, and 5th pic? This helps to train young minds in logical reasoning / thinking.

by looking at the Right hand side short sentence phrases, help to train pupils read simple, short sentences.

after matching pictures to sentences, pupils then write out the 5 simple sentences into a small compo themselves. It's ok if their handwriting ugly. Never mind. Just an expression of their creativity, at this young age. As pupils pick up confidence, then slowly / gently increase dosage from 5 to ... more sentences.

K1 Term 1 also start spelling. Spelling is done according to thematic topics.

MLC good ccc. Plenty of ccc regulated under MCYS listing, but real good ones are rare!

my friend has a daughter 2.5 yrs old now. She also praying hard that her girl will get a place here. She stays in Toa Payoh. See! residents apart from Bishan - also eager to enrol their child into here.

                you are blessed!
                😉 :rahrah:

                    hi jh_mumloveu,

                    N1 - considered 'honeymoon' period.
for phonics - ensure your child know her fundamental A-Z 26 sounds very well, because she need this later, to help her learn blending of '3 character word' sounds later, from N2.

for reading - expose her to lots & lots of reading at home, national library - both english & chinese.! Introduce sight words (high frequency words) early, help her move up the ladder fast, read independently. If not sure, go Popular bookstore ask them to show you some books on this.

N2 Term 2 onwards all the way to K2 - can feel the 'heat' seeping in. Accelerate:-

                    a) Maths, read:-
                    http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=423&start=940

                    b) languages, read:-
                    http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=416&start=1310

                    c) Science - try to do simple experiments with yr child at home.

gone are the days where kids just memorize facts, 'reproduce' back the
facts during tests / exam. No longer can just rely on this learn via pure memorise facts alone.

teaching & learning methodology has changed tremedously.
nowadays, the new system wants children apply the Science concepts taught in school, into everyday real life situation.

eg: in 'Application' qns, can ask:-
qn: why do you think that at pasar malam road stalls, you see those road side hawker keep turning & turning the roasted water chestnuts ('kao luck') inside the wok ?

children know it has to do with Heat. They had just learnt Heat topic in school. But ... what about Heat ? They dont know how to phrase it, using Science key-words expected.

ans: when the roadside hawker keep stirring constantly non-stop inside the hot work, it is the even distribution of heat that cooks the 'kao luck'.

Any idea how is the basic care in My Little Campus(Bishan)?

Do the teachers change diapers frequently and help in the toilet training of the kids?
